Guests first reaction "wow, this is soooooo NYC!" (It's the exposed brick)
ANYONE INTERESTED IN THE ROOM, PLEASE MAKE AN INQUIRY ABOUT AVAILABILITY. DO NOT PRE-BOOK THE SPACE AS WE WILL NEED TO DISCUSS INFORMATION BEFORE WE MAKE ANY BOOKING. THANKS :)
ALSO, ITS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION, AS THIS WILL ANSWER MANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SPACE :) But please feel free to ask any questions, as well.
Visiting NYC? In need of a cozy, inexpensive, safe, friendly & convenient place to stay, please contact me.
Please be kind, courteous, clean, with excellent manners and a friendly personality. (please read my profile and my reviews and you will see that you will get the same in return).
Quaint with exposed brick ! Very NYC
The apartment has a full functional kitchen, full bathroom and a living room available for you to enjoy during your stay.
Remember, YOU MUST keep the shared space neat and tidy!
I will provide sheets, pillows, comforter and towels.
Its very important for travelers to understand that this is a shared space and you must clean up after yourselves so that the next person using that space (bathroom, living room, kitchen) does not have to clean up after you.
Parties in the apartment: Don't misunderstand, I LOVE a good party, however (in this case), I ask that you keep any parties outside of the apartment and no overnight "additional" guests unless you booked the room for two. I do not allow for single guests to bring any "new" friends back to the apartment. As this could cause a disturbance to others. I hope you know what I am saying. If you want to find a good party in the city, I can certainly point you in the right direction and if you are a single and happen meet someone you'd like to get to know "better", well... take it to their place ;)
Wifi is included in the rental of the space and I will leave a FULL renters manual for anyone renting the space including the Wifi passwords as well as nearby places to eat, shop, points of interest, subway maps, street maps, bus maps, menu's for ordering in, etc.
If you are feeling like a night in, the living room is a great cozy place, to do that. We have cable TV for you to find something to your liking, kick back and watch and relax. I will leave complete directions in the apartment manual on how to use the TV.
The building does NOT have a Laundry room but there is a laundry just steps on your left from our front door which has great customer service and is SUPER clean and inexpensive. You can either do it yourself, or drop off your laundry to be washed and dried for you and in addition they also offer dry cleaning services for your convenience.
My apartment is on the 2nd floor, just one flight up and we are on the Upper East (@ 102nd Street). The neighborhood is wonderful, safe and convenient with a variety of cultures and the building is full of young professionals.
The nearest subway is one (1) block away from the building. We are approximately 20 minutes to Midtown (Times Square) by the Metro and 10 minutes walking distance to Central Park. If you have a car or plan to rent a car, the block has a gas station right on the corner (which is a huge bonus in NYC) and there is always parking available in the area. Our location has everything within walking distance including a super market, small stores that are open late (for that late night craving) and we have a great restaurants including one right across the street with outdoor patio seating in nice weather. In addition to walking to Central Park we are also about a 15 minute walk to the Metropolitan Museum of Art as well as the Guggenheim (or a 5 minute subway ride).
I will try to accommodate any guest as best I can. If you have any special requests that would make your stay easier or more comfortable, please feel free to ask.
I will keep the basic staples in the kitchen for your use such as milk, bread, sugar, butter and condiments (ketchup, mayo, mustard). We have a Brita Water pitcher with filter so you will always have filtered water. Although NY tap water is just as good. If you have a favorite cereal, drink or snack, please let me know and I would be happy to supply you with something so that you don't have to rush out of the door immediately upon arrival to food shop (unless of course you want to).
I hope that covered most or all. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, suggestions or concerns.
If you are interested in renting the space, please tell me about yourself, PLEASE set up a profile with a picture (a must) and we can go from there. I am quite fast when responding to an inquiry but if you don't have a profile set-up with a picture, I will ask that you do that before we can proceed with a possible booking.
If we decide to proceed with a booking, please be ready to swap personal information such as(website hidden)or Linkd in (preferred).
Your stay includes use of linens, pillows, towels, hairdryer, kitchen utilities, television (in the living), wifi, sleep machine, alarm clock with ipod dock (in the small room) and a lovely bike (in purple) in case you want to take a ride through Central Park and feel the NYC wind in your hair as well as space to hang your clothes, if you would like to.
I will also include (just like a any nice hotel) travel size shampoo, conditioner, body soap, body lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, & deodorant. (see picture of guest package).
Smoking is NOT allowed in the apartment but if you are a smoker, I will leave an ashtray and you can smoke outside of the building but I ask that you DO NOT throw cigarettes on the ground.
Fact: This is 70% cheaper than your average/ decent NYC hotel. You save, I save. A win-win!

This depends on whether or not I will be in the apartment during their stay.
If I happen to be home and in the apt. during your stay, I am very sensitive to making my guests feel at home! I am very laid back and friendly and my goal is to be sure all guests feel at home.
Please be respectful that this is someones home and its always best to bring out your best. Remember what your momma taught you ;)
Absolutely NO overnight guests. Meaning if you are a single person who'd like to have an overnight guest - I do not allow this for a variety of reasons. One being safety. This also applies to couples. Whomever I am hosting, should be the only people in the apartment. (In this case, if you meet new friends in NYC, best to go to their place - if you know what I mean). ;)
Music can be played from 11am - 9:30pm. At any other hours it should be turned down low or off, not to upset the neighbors.
Absolutely NO smoking in the apartment at all.
No parties. Sorry. We love a good party but we have neighbors and some of them don't care for parties so we have to be sure they are comfortable.
We also have our apartment manual which gives you a full listing of our house rules :)

Hi, I'm Melanie
Excellent host, respectful woman, good friend. I'm well-mannered, friendly, caring, responsible, super clean & honest.
I absolutely love hosting people (who are traveling the world and are in search of inexpensive accommodations), in my small but beautiful apartment. Thankfully, I have been extremely lucky with all of my guests (please read my reviews)!
Please be sure to read the entire bedroom description, in which you are interested in, and please read my reviews as they will provide you with a lot of information you may need. :)
Please contact me if you are interested in being a guest in my apartment. I don't instantly book anyone, I always like to have a bit more information than what YOUR profile might read. It is just as important as reading host reviews. Most people (I believe), will make their decision based on price and reviews, collectively.
Important advice to new users on Airbnb. Its really helpful if you have completely filled out your Airbnb profile when looking for a place. Profile pictures and verifications such as, phone, email, drivers license or passport, and any social media platforms. This really helps out the possible host and you will also have better luck with responses.
Also, I think it is polite to let the host know if you have found other accommodations and are "no longer interested in their space," after the initial inquiry or offer. That would be very helpful as well. Just as any host should tell you if they can accommodate you or not.
PLEASE READ, BELOW!!!
One last important message to any guests who are interested:
The neighborhood where my apartment is located is listed on Airbnb as UES/East Harlem/Spanish Harlem or as it is known for is El Barrio also meaning "the neighborhood." I can tell you how wonderful it is, because it is. However, reading guest reviews are very important.
This neighborhood is safe, lovely, a mixture of all cultures and races and please do not judge the word "Harlem." As this is 2017 and NOT 1985. NYC, in any area, is of all races and culture. I have lived in this exact apartment for 5+ years, I love it and don't plan to leave because it is a great place. This building is also on the same block/street as a NYC police station, the fire dept., 24 hour gas station and 24 hour laundry, downstairs. The street is always alive. This IS the BIG Apple!
In addition, I live in the apartment, you will Not be with other guests. I will be your host, your flat mate and maybe your tour guide! lol Well, at least, I will (for sure) guide you in the right direction!
