In my countless AirB&B experiences in multiple cities over several years, I have never had such an enjoyable stay as I had in Kolbrùn’s flat in lovely Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain.
In essence, the apartment is a small, concrete cube. In reality, it’s a well-thought-out design to make the most of a limited space according to modern needs. The tiny kitchen has two electric hobs – just enough to heat coffee in the morning and fry a fish and some veggies at night. There is a small fridge, nice sized counter, and ample sink with enough space beneath the sink to store 6 large bottles of water. A shallow open cupboard makes cups, glasses, and condiments within reach. White china, modern cutlery, a wooden cutting board, an Italian moka coffee maker and a modern drip coffee maker complete the kitchen.
The living room has a modern couch, coffee table, and flat screen tv making for a cozy environment. The bedroom has a convenient hanging reading lamp by the bed, an in-the-wall shelf for bedside items, and a handy plug for the phone. Nice size closet and mirror complete the room. The bathroom is the pièce de résistance of the flat! Concrete could never feel more inviting! White, light, sunny, airy, this room allows one to shower and dress in complete comfort. The briskly yet absorbent beige and grey-stripped towels are luxurious. The apartment’s décor is minimalist chic, with simple and elegant touches of Louis XIV, India, and Thai with everything one needs and nothing more to clutter.
The terrace is as smartly decorated as the interior with a lounging couch under a strong white awning, two lounge chairs, large green potted plants, lovely wall-climbing flowers, and a large wooden table with four stable wooden chairs.
Last but not least is the location – it’s perfect. The apartment is within walking distance of grocery stores, pharmacies, the main square, the best restaurants and the beach. There was only one drawback of this entire lovely enclave, which really is beyond anyone’s control: reckless and noisy drivers can be annoying at night. However, a new pair of earplugs will solve this problem.
Of course, the host, Kolbrún was everything anyone would wish for: solicitous, easily available, kind, warm, and ever ready to help. All in all, I give this apartment 5 stars for hospitality, cleanliness, location, décor, ambiance, and price-value ratio. I hope to have the opportunity to return in the future.
