While we welcome feedback and improvement areas from guests, we have to object to a significant piece of the unfavorable part of this review and the associated lower than average rating you left.
Our home location is correctly reflected in our listing, with the specific neighborhood name “East Village” even included in the listing title. For you to leave poor marks for location while also providing the review text, “I don´t like Manhattan or the East Village, I prefer Brooklyn, but this was convenient”, frustrates us as hosts. We recognize Manhattan, the East Village and New York City are not for everyone. For visitors who have a pre-determined dislike for a specific neighborhood, but book themselves into the listing nonetheless and leave poor marks for the location is an unfair way for hosts’ review standards to be worsened by guests. There are ample hotels and AirBNB in the locations you would have preferred. I’d invite other prospective guests to read other reviews. You’ll find that first-time visitors to NYC generally comment on how much they enjoy our neighborhood as much as we do (and as most New Yorkers do).
Your feedback on cleanliness is noted. That’s the area we care most about being successful in, and guests’ reviews show we usually are. While we unfortunately have no direct control over the conditions of the stairwell, we’ve made sure to note it to the super and apologize for cleanliness issues in the stairwell or in the apartment that didn’t meet your standards.
