The 2 story brick out building opens to our beautiful courtyard. This room sleeps 2, has a stocked refrigerator, electric kettle and toaster. It shares our newly renovated bathroom, just steps away, with our Balcony room. Our location is unique in the city and is not a quiet residential street by day. Nights and weekends, however, are a peaceful change from the commerce serving the Port of New Orleans during the working day. Our neighbor, a wedding venue, does have music till midnight.
Situated in the old kitchen with the original cooking hearth. This room surrounds you with history and comfort. Lovingly restored with exposed cypress timbers, brickwork and wood paneling with updated insulation, A/C and ceiling fan to make sure its always comfortable. The room shares the bathroom, with the Balcony room, and is just a few steps away. On demand hot water allows the guest the luxury of long showers without running out for the next guest. A stocked refrigerator, electric kettle and toaster is everything you need to start and end the day. The Courtyard is your outdoor living room, shaded by palm trees and our fragrant orange tree. We live onsite and are always available to meet our guests as they settle in and we are happy to help them get oriented to the city if they have any questions.
We share this historic end of our block with our neighbor and sister building at 510 Race St. Race & Religious, is a popular wedding venue that does book some lively celebrations on lovely weekend nights. Midnight is the expected curtain call for live and recorded music. If you plan to go to bed early on the weekends, in New Orleans, we may not be a good fit.

Nancy and I met in New Orleans 39 years ago. Back in 1981 we came across this historic property on a long forgotten corner of the working waterfront and have been restoring and caring for this place ever since. We raised our 2 children here and rode out many Hurricanes, including Katrina. I am a commercial photographer working primarily with architects, designers, planners, and developers. I'm dedicated to historic preservation and thoughtful adaptive reuse of historic buildings and forward thinking urban planning issues. Nancy is an artist and designer and accomplished seamstress. Her hand bags and accessories have been a feature at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival for the past 8 years. She is also passionate about good food, music and the care and upkeep of our home. This amazing city and our home had a positive influence on our kids. Our daughter is an Architect and Interior Designer and our son is a Landscape Architect.
