I really wanted to give David 5 stars. The apartment is super cute and David was easy to communicate with (except that he was out of range for much of trip, but responsive and provided emergency numbers). Unfortunately, it seems like the cleaning crew either didn't make it, or they did a super quick change of garbage bags (and not much more). There were (very) dirty dishes in the dishwasher, crumbs and dust over the floors, the sheets on the fold out where clearly NOT clean, and throw rugs clearly not vacuumed or shaken out. We could not find a broom, but did what we could with the swifter. Washed the sheets in the washer/dryer combo, but the dryer didn't dry, so we had to take them down to the laundry mat to finish the job. Not a big deal, but something we should not have had to do. I did request the cleaning fee be refunded, but David did not respond to that request. I would not call the apartment "luxury", as there are some stains on the walls and (likely because it was not clean) it just felt a bit messy. The fold out couch is a bit lumpy..... what do you expect from a fold out! But, it is a very cute and bright apartment in a fantastic location. Coffee shop just below really great, good food and drink all close by. David seems like an interesting fellow with great books (and an obvious taste for adventure with bikes/snowboards/surfboards all around). If the place had been clean, I would have given 5 stars and been back for my many NY visits. I am not a neat-freak, but staying in someone else's home should be left neat and clean!
