Short Term Vacation Rental Certificate SVR-00083; all prices include 7% sales tax and 6% occupancy tax as per city of Savannah
This is a bright and open 'loft' space as your own apartment in a private garden setting, all centrally located in Savannah's Victorian district, within the Thomas Square neighborhood.
The best description is an urban cabin. I strive to keep it as open as possible for less clutter and still provide you with a comfortable stay. There are practical, modern elements mixed with vintage pieces that hold their own in the space. There is a galley kitchen with a fridge and stovetop oven. The windows provide for great natural light all day, and for any afternoon thunderstorms it's the best view on the property. The garden is expansive and very peaceful. It's situated behind a large colonial revival house (1914), and both sit on a 1/4 acre lot. There are 70 ft tall water oaks that shade the property. And open as it is, it feels very much like a private retreat.
If the space is available I will give a discount to visiting writers for longer stays of a week or more. If you are looking to book for a month or longer, I can also provide a discounted rate. Please inquire further when you are looking to book.
This is as central as you can get south of the historic squares, less the congestion. There is a city bus line (#14) that stops on the corner of Abercorn and 35th, but otherwise it is 5 minutes by car from here to River Street, 15 minutes by bike (with a dedicated bike lane on opposite corner), and about half hour if your hoofing it (unless you stop for a beer to escape the midday sun).
There will be a small variety of breakfast items provided, usually including organic or locally sourced coffee, milk, juice, eggs, cereal, and some beverages.
(Note: there are shades and curtains on every window for privacy. I intentionally edit out any televisions, but wifi is provided in case you want to stream movies or music on your own wireless device.)
If there is no availability on the calendar, you may try the upstairs unit (which does have a small TV and cable): https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1133081
THANK YOU to past guests, Mike and Olivia from Chicago, for providing me with beautiful new listing photographs. The main photos in the series were taken by Mike Killion from Chicago.

Either I or my property caretaker will be there to greet and show you in, and when at home (in the main house) we'll be on hand if you need any info during your stay either in person or through text. You can always call directly for urgent matters. (If we are not available at your check-in time, we'll provide keys with instructions.)
[I generally open the calendar up about 3-4 months in advance -- if you need to book later than that time frame please check back again.]
*** The City of Savannah has passed a Short Term Rental Ordinance for any rentals less than 30 days, which went into effect as of January 1, 2015. As part of the ordinance, I must collect sales of 7% and hotel occupancy tax of 6%, for a total of 13%. Because AirBnB does not have a separate line item to collect these, it's necessary for me to incorporate them into the nightly rate.
Please read the following agreement as per the City of Savannah Short Term Vacation Rental Ordinance. In booking you agree to and provide a de facto signature to the following:
As part of the application, property owners must submit a copy of an exemplar agreement which is executed between the property owner and occupant(s).

Helpful Hints for your Stay in Savannah:
9-1-1 is the phone number for emergency services in the city.
Savannah is a walking city and our architecture and squares are best enjoyed on foot. Please remember to only cross streets in designated crosswalks. And, as in most cities, jaywalking is punishable by a fine. Obey all pedestrian signals and signage.
Bicycles are a great mode of transportation in Savannah, however, bicycles are prohibited in squares, parks, and sidewalks throughout Savannah.
If you happen to be locked out of your property, please contact your rental agent. Neighbors and surrounding businesses do not have spare keys to the property.
Parking passes are not required in the Thomas Square neighborhood but please read all street parking signs.
In general, either myself or a friend will meet you directly with the keys and show you in. One of us will also be on hand (by phone or text if not directly in person) if you should need further info during your stay, or for any urgent matters.
You are free to come and go, just be sure to keep the noise to a minimum after 11pm to respect the neighbors. No smoking in the apartment, only in the garden itself -- it's the best place to enjoy it anyway. (And please, no butts in the garden besides the one you sit on!)
And as much as I love kids, the property is not suitable for young children. I can try to refer to you to other places in the neighborhood that would be a better fit.

Hello all -- Having lived and traveled all over the country and a good deal abroad, I can truly say Savannah is hands down one of the most beautiful towns anywhere ... I still keep calling it home. I can be a recluse even in a crowd, and this quality is what drew me to my house of 15 years -- it provides a wooded privacy in a centralized, urban setting. Once you get your keys and I get you oriented, I'm pretty hands off -- but always happy to answer any questions and give recommendations. You'll understand why this place is a secret hideaway in the middle of everything.
