Once you unlock the front door, you will realize we are not your typical rental. This is no ordinary log cabin, it’s an impeccably maintained three bedroom, two-bath cabin that sleeps up to 10 people. The rustic appeal remains, but modern twists make it fun and inviting. Hang your coat and relax in the comforts of your weekend or week retreat. Whether entertaining friends or family, this home offers a unique opportunity for each guest to relax and enjoy whatever activity they choose to do. This house was built for entertainment, a gathering for family and friends who want to experience a one of a kind Catskills escape. With great amenities and beautiful grounds it is also the perfect setting for a special event.
A large open layout between the kitchen, dining and living room area allows for easy conversation and entertaining, while a separate loft has been designated as the entertainment room to watch TV (DIRECTV), access your Netflix or Hulu Account, or grab a movie from the DVD collection.
The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, our guests have raved at how equipped the house is. The kitchen has an electric cook top, double oven, French Door Fridge and Freezer, dishwasher, microwave, blender, pressure cooker, electric handheld mixer, electric can opener, and toaster. Also includes sharp! knives, coffee maker (no filters needed), coffee percolator, stovetop espresso maker, tea kettle, toaster, crock pot, waffle maker, including Le Creuset pots, baking trays and molds and bread pans, and assorted pots, pans, dinnerware, flatware, and serving ware. We do also have two turkey pans and platters for the holidays, and BBQ tools.
The dining room has a farmhouse table that seats 10. The dining hutch offers wine glasses, cordial glassware, beer mugs, martini shaker, etc.
The cabin features three bedrooms, all equipped with 800+ count sheets in the summer and LLBean flannel sheets for the winter. The bathrooms provide plenty plush towels.
On one side of the house there are two bedrooms, offers new Sterns & Fosters European Firm Pillow top Queen size beds for a wonderful nights rest. One of these rooms also houses a kid's loft. The kid's loft is height restrictive, being only three go four feet high, but kids and adults love it! You can hear kids giggling as they read their bedtime stories. This loft has two queen-size mattresses that can hold up to four kids or more depending on their ages. This bedroom also has an entrance to the blue stone patio, so if you don’t want to wake someone in the morning yet want to roam the land, you can. There is a bathroom with a shower next to these two bedrooms. On the other side of the house there is a bedroom with a new Tempur-Pedic king size bed and a bathroom with a stand-up shower and Jacuzzi tub. This is the only bedroom that has a TV and DVD. Sliding glass doors open to the back patio and front deck. Each room is large enough to add a playpen(s). We have two playpens for your convenience. Additional guests can use the entertainment loft as there is a queen sized futon or the queen sized Pottery Barn pull out couch with a gel insert in the living room.
For our summer guests we do not have air conditioning, we do have ceiling fans and wall fans. Since the Catskills and the house is at a higher elevation, humidity tends to be low in the summer and it is about a 10 to 15 degree difference than NYC, the evenings tend to cool off even in the summer months so we recommend you bring a sweater for nights. Summer nights are usually in the low to upper 60s, very pleasant.
For the winter guests, advise of arrival time and we will remotely turn up the heat so you arrive to a warm home.
Outdoor entertainment space
The blue stone patio on the back of the cabin has two charcoal grills, a pizza oven, fire pit, a 16 foot wood table built by a local craftsman that seats up to 20 and two couch sets. The patio is enveloped by rock walls, perennial gardens, and bathed in café lights at night.
Or perhaps the two-tiered wooden deck facing the stunning Denver Vega Valley is more up your alley. Read a book and relax on one of the Adirondack chairs, take a nap on one of the loungers, or have your coffee or tea at the breakfast table. Whatever way you choose to relax, you will feel rejuvenated by the peaceful landscape in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Catskills.
**This is a pet friendly home therefore if you have dog allergies than unfortunately this is not the home for you. We are located in the stunning Denver Vega Valley of Roxbury, New York. Yes, DENVER New York? Named in the late 1800s when a local resident named the Post Office Denver because she thought the hilly terrain might be similar to that of Denver, Colorado. * And she was and is right. With its valley and mountain views, Denver is appropriately named. It’s truly a breathtaking and a hidden gem set in the beautiful Catskill Mountains.
The cabin and barn with its unique positioning, perched on a steep hill, allows you to capture these gorgeous views. Waking up to this view is something to embrace, your mind goes blank. With 100 acres to explore you are surrounded by incredible nature. The property is surrounded by a majority of Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Forever Wild land. Climb the rock ledges, explore the rock quarry, throw a stick in for the pond for the pup, or witness why the street was once named Hawk Hollow as hawks fly over head or occasionally witness a Bald or Golden Eagle grace the skies above.
Come see why Fodor’s named the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains one of the top 25 places in the world to visit in 2015 (and we think that recognition should be given every year).
If skiing, cycling, hiking or a wedding brings you to the area, then we are in the heart of it all. We are within 15 minutes of Belleayre and Plattekill Mountains. Belleayre Ski Resort was named 2015 Condé Nast Traveler one of the “12 Underrated Ski Resorts in all of America” for excelling in “great skiing, genuine originality, and reasonable rates.” Plattekill is a family run resort and hosts year around events, including Plattepalooza Family Fall Festival live music, foliage chairlift rides, fall fare, beer garden serving in-season brews, s'mores making to apple cider press.
Roxbury is host to many weddings. We are a stone’s throw away from Roxbury Barn and Estate (7 miles), Stone Tavern Farm (6 1/2 miles), The Inn at West Settlement (8 miles), Barn at Headwaters (8 miles), Blenheim Hill Farm (25 miles) and many other venues hosting large events.
If you want a round of golf then we are situated between Hannah Mountain Resort and Country Club and Shepherd Hills Golf Club. Kayaking, canoeing, paddle board within five minutes at Susan’s Pleasant Pheasant Farm. If you prefer to hike, hit the nearby trails including Bear Pen and Catskill Scenic Trail. Or perhaps fly fishing, zip-lining, tubing down the Esopus Creek, Night Snow Tubing at Platterkill Ski Mountain is more your thing. Last but not least, you are foodie then you would be happy to hear that the area is gaining a lot of attention on the culinary front. Check out Public Restaurant and Lounge in Roxbury, Peekamoose Bar and Grill in Big Indian, Bear Café in Woodstock, Phoenicia Diner and The Phoenician Steakhouse in Phoenicia, Zephyr Restaurant in Pine Hill, Table on Ten in Bloomville, Brushland Eatery in Bovina, Bull and Garden in Hobart, or grab a cider and nibbles at Wayside Cider in Andes or pick up spirits at Union Grove Distillery in Arkville. And we love the newcomer to the scene, Outsiders Kitchen, for breakfast and lunch. Or gather your ingredients at the Round Barn Farmer’s Market and Ella’s Mercantile and make a great meal at home. Just ask and we can advise on places to eat. However you choose to spend your vacation you will thoroughly enjoy your stay in the Catskills.

Our Story and that of the Land
It all started with a love story and sort of a “blind date”. Daughter of Italian farmers and a native New Yorker meets an Englishman raised on a pig farm elope to OZ and then celebrate our nuptials in the Catskills. Take it from me, it is a very interesting story, but don’t want to bore you with the details! Anyway, the fun part begins when we merge our individual homes (we married later in life), call our weekend home our “official” home and have made every effort to restore this beautiful cabin and love sharing it with guests. This house was built from love (and blood, sweat and tears!), the entire outdoor space was created by family of landscape designers, horticulturists, and welders. It was created for our wedding and makes for a perfect backdrop for special event.
Enough of the sappiness. We have owned the property since 2013. The street is named after the Howard Greene, a farmer who owned the land before us. His son, Gerald, is still a neighbor of ours and it is always wonderful to speak to him. We hope we make him proud as new stewards of the land. Everything we do is to keep within the aesthetic of the land and our surroundings. As one of our neighbors wonderfully put it, is we make his drive to work more beautiful year and after year as we continually improve the property. The property is names after Lyne (pronounced Line) Surrey, UK. The family farm in England.
No access to basement and garage.
