Welcome to a serene, cozy B&B, a retreat nestled in a quiet, wooded valley featuring a daily breakfast basket and located just a few minutes by car from downtown Murphys, a charming, sophisticated village known as the Napa of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Air conditioned.
Nestled in the woods off 1/2 mile of gravel road, a private outside entrance opens to a 400 sq. ft. suite. Enjoy the rural setting, quiet sunsets, stargazing. 2 miles from Main Street but away from the bustle.
You will have the downstairs unit with private entrance, queen bed and bath, sitting area with desk filled with local information, and multiple parking areas. The unit is cooled by a portable air conditioner plus overhead and floor fans and heated by an electric faux-fireplace. A full bath with basic toiletries, warm beverage cart and mini fridge, snacks, wine glasses and opener, games, and lots of extra bedding are provided. A small outside sitting area is nice for enjoying the 8am breakfast or an evening sip of award-winning local wine.
By request, single-seat kayak is ready to pop on top of your car for a day at outstanding high-mountain lakes or Melones Reservoir.
Cellular service through AT&T network only (Some guests have been able to access Verizon).
No phone or cable (so peaceful)
The B&B is accessed by driving 200 yards off the main road. From this level main driveway, a secondary sloped gravel driveway, which is best driven very slowly in low gear, leads to the ground-level guest unit. Motorized vehicle required (bicycles not adequate on graveled Ponderosa Way).
Snow tires required during snow cover. The B&B is air conditioned.

Hostess Amanda lives on the second floor and is available to help you have the perfect Murphy's retreat, providing you with fresh fruit and a breakfast basket each morning.
Welcome to the woods!
We've happily provided respite to a diverse range of guests. Our most satisfied guests have been adventurous city dwellers who have embraced the rustic B&B's peace and quiet. Whatever age, race, or gender preference, we look forward to hosting you and ask only that you adopt a tolerant attitude towards our ½ mile gravel road ;-)
I've lived in and loved Murphys for 30 years. It has everything wonderful- wilderness, community, culture - neither traffic nor malls. Wal-Mart is an hour's drive! You'll know the natives from their direct, welcoming gaze :)
Your delightful hostess, Amanda, a local professional potter who lives upstairs, calls her new home "heaven."
