Defined by many as the finest preserved of the Gold Rush Towns, Nevada City is rich in history. In 1849 a prospector found gold in Deer Creek, and soon the miners were pulling as much as a pound of pay dirt a day from the creek. The town was first called Deer Creek Dry Diggins, but was changed in 1850 to "Nevada". It became Nevada City soon after to avoid confusion with the state of Nevada.
Nevada City is set among the tall pines, Victorian houses, and the many historical buildings. The historic district includes 93 buildings that are listed with the National Register of Historic Places, and there are 18 landmarks that are also registered. There are many quaint shops, an abundance of artistic pursuits, and so many superb restaurants, that Nevada City has been given the nickname of "Carmel of the Sierra Foothills".

Nevada city has a noise ordinance, we ask that you respect the ordinance and keep noise to an acceptable level after 10pm. We ask that you do not smoke on the property. Sadly we can't have pets in our lovely cottages.
I am fortunate to have retired to the Nevada County Area. From Skiing to site seeing, panning for gold to relaxing around our beautiful rivers, Nevada County has it! Some time ago I retired from the hustle and bustle of the High Tech industry, now I find myself spending time babbling on with people! Mostly I like talking to the long time Nevada County Residents to learn more about our History. I know a fair bit about the area, so if you have any specific interests, let me know and I'll try to recommend some activities that you may enjoy.
