The "Writer's Retreat" is our most special room, with views over the terrace ponds and gardens. It has a walk in wardrobe, and a full size marble bathroom with a deep soaker bath.

A super king double bed with a luxury topper and quality linens ensures a brilliant night's sleep.

The suite has a living/dining area complete with large smart TV, surround sound and complimentary Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney TV.

Kerikeri is the historic heart of the beautiful Bay of Islands, and the oldest European buildings are a few minutes down the road at Kerikeri Inlet. We are also close to Rainbow Falls, many fine restaurants, wineries and art galleries. The popular Packhouse Markets are a short stroll from the opposite side of our entrance. The Waitangi treaty grounds, Paihia, northern beaches and 3 golf courses are all within a 20 minutes drive. Cape Reinga (the northern tip of New Zealand) is a popular day trip, and is a 2.5 hour drive.

We have travelled the world and decided to permanently move to the Bay of Islands to enjoy its relaxed lifestyle, and its marvellous weather!

The Maori history and culture in the Bay is very special. Lionel, my partner has direct ancestral links, and is happy to assist guests to discover the important aspects of the Bay of Islands.

We love Kerikeri! It is a more relaxing and 'non-touristy' alternative to nearby Paihia, which is still only minutes away. We love our local, high quality restaurants, wineries and wonderful local produce, so allow us to make a recommendation on where to go, and eat.

There are several places to eat within walking distance, and the marvelous Old Packhouse market is just a few minutes walk. We;re confident you'll be delighted to experience a stay at Moon Gate Villa.
