Experience island living in SE Alaska. We are located across the Tongass Narrows, about a five minute boat but a whole world away from hustle and bustle.
No roads, just woodland forest trails and beach walks. Awesome sunsets and a tub to soak in.
Island living without roads is peaceful and offers a view of how life here was for many years in the early days, where people would set up home in a bay and live off the land and sea.
We are a whole lot more comfortable than that nowadays. We are on the grid for power and within ten minutes we can run across the bay to the supermarket, but if you want to explore how remote residents live in Alaska then we encourage to come and stay.
We will pick you up on your arrival and departure day and offer a water taxi service twice a day if you don't want to be stranded. More times than that we ask for a $5pp gas contribution.
The queen bedroom overlooks the rainforest and huge ancient cedars that we have in the backyard. It is quiet and the bathroom is just down the hall. High thread count linens for a comfortable nights sleep!
Guests have access to the house, kitchen and lounge. Outside you are welcome to explore the grounds, trails and beaches.
It is on a case by case basis. I like to interact with guests but respect others right to quiet and privacy.
The nieghborhoood is the beaches and woodland walks of Pennock Island. We are set in a bay facing west for spectacular sunsets. The wild back side of Pennock makes for wonderful beachcombing and sunbathing. Kayaks will take you exploring the islets and bays nearby and you can rent a skiff to venture further afield.
Ketchikan is a five minute boat ride away.
There is free bus shuttle around town and our public bus charges $1 to go visit sites further afield. From our downtown dock all the amenities are within a few minutes walk.
Breakfast is included. Evening meals are available at $20pp and group participation is always appreciated.
There are no stores on Pennock.
Common areas. Kitchen, decks, hot tub, beach and trails.

Hello there. I am Kim and I have called Alaska home since 1990. I first took a ferry trip through the Inside Passage and the next year came back and kayaked from Juneau to Ketchikan, a journey of three months and the start of a long love affair with the country.
Today I enjoy sharing the town and country I call home. I challenge myself with gardening in a rain forest that sheds 13 feet of rain a year. If that was not enough you need to contend with the wonderful population of deer.
I enjoy yoga, wood working and renovating homes. In the summer I work as a guide to see the bears feeding on the salmon in remote locations.
It is always a joy to meet people from around the world and see the world I love through new eyes.
