A charming cottage just outside the walls of Lucca, private garden, bikes and quality services, ideal for visiting the town and surrounding country
(Husk at besøg Cinque Terre - fantastisk sted).
We just arrived back home from a perfect stay in Lucca with Pierluigi and his family as our hosts! The place itself is not big, but it has everything you need. Furthermore, it is really nice and homy and provides a lot of privacy which was really nice for us since we travelled with our child of only close to two years of age. Moreover, the garden also provided a great space to spend some time when not out and about which again couldn't be the case all the time for us. Lastly, the location was also close to ideal with only 20 minutes walk from the city wall and thereby roughly 30 minutes walk from the city center. We had a car for the week, and went to several places at the coast all within 40 minutes. And even shorter for a trip to a small vineyard and a trip we took to Pisa. That being said. By far the best recommendation of Pierluigi is the hospitality he showed and the efforts he went through in order to make the vacation as good as possible for us. We were welcomed with a thorough introduction to the city, the region and all the possible attractions to see. This included some Prosecco and some local cold cuts, cheese and olives! This generosity continued throughout the week where we sporadically was brought freshly baked goods, a traditional cake/tart and even a small bag of cookies as a gift to take home. Most memorably was that he had taken the time to find, and set up, a small inflatable pool for our daughter and that his own mother had gone out to buy her a present. I thus think it goes without saying that we highly recommend the place!
We - and Australian couple in our 6o's - have just spent 3 weeks in this compact, but very comfortable apartment in Lucca. Its location in San Filippo, only 1.2 km outside the city walls, has been perfect for us. With the use of two bicycles included in the rental, we have cycled to many parts of the city on a daily basis, and have gotten to know our neighbourhood very well. The apartment in host Pierluigi's peaceful and very productive back yard is private and relaxing. After a busy day of cycling and sightseeing, it is so good to return to La Capinera, sit on the terrace with a glass of wine and listen to the birdsong. This place is a great combination of city convenience and country serenity. Our host, Pierluigi, has been outstanding. His hospitality and generosity have been very touching - every day a little treat from a local bakery or special fruit has found itself to our table. Pierluigi has suggested cycling tours we could take around the city, and good restaurants to try. But never in an intrusive way - at all times, the privacy of the apartment has been maintained. Though quite compact, the cottage has all we needed - a comfy bed, good shower, wi-fi ( best to sit out on the terrace for this), and good heating when needed. The kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed to cook some meals, and there were also basic condiments available. We would not hesitate to recommend the lovely city of Lucca, and Pierligi's La Capinera, to other airbnb guests who are travelling to Tuscany. It has been a real oasis of calm and tranquillity for us - we loved being there.
The house is well kept and well located. The garden is beautiful and it's really one to be enjoyed during the summer months. The location to the downtown area of Lucca is easy, but away from traffic and hustle of town. Pierluigi was very welcoming and generous with his time. His family was delightful.
