This comfortable private accommodation is perched on a forested hillside where steps lead to a sandy beach that's great for swimming. There is a spectacular ocean view from the deck. The ferry to Vancouver and a bus to Gibsons are a short walk away.
This upper floor of this waterfront home sits on a lush hillside overlooking a secluded beach.
This spacious, open-plan cottage reveals ocean views from a string of picture windows and from a deck that spans the length of the house. On the deck you can fire up the barbecue, watch boats sail by, or get out the binoculars to view seals, ducks, and eagles. A hillside stairway takes you to a sand and pebble beach.
The accommodations include two bedrooms One has a double bed and the other contains a double-single bunk-bed. There are two bathrooms (one an ensuite), a media room (actually a third bedroom) with a 50-inch TV, a large living room with a gas fireplace, a dining area that seats six, and a gourmet kitchen with a ceramic cook-top stove. A laundry room is available in the basement. Cable TV and internet are included.
Ocean Cove Cottage is just a five-minute drive from the charming seaside town of Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast. Festivals take place on the coast almost every weekend in the summer. Have breakfast at the famous TV Beachcombers' location, Molly's Reach; stroll the pier at Gibson's Landing, visit spectacular Gospel rock, hike the trails at Soames Point, bask on the beach at Hopkins Landing, Bonnybrook, or on your own private stretch of sand at Smith's Cove.
A ferry to the Vancouver mainland is just an eight-minute walk or a one-minute drive away. A bus that stops one block away travels many times, day and night, to and from Gibsons, Sechelt and the upper Sunshine Coast.
There is a one-bedroom suite in half of the lower level. We may be there sometimes, but often it is vacant. On occasion the suite and the main part of the house may be rented together. Please let us know if you are interested in this option. It will be posted on Airbnb soon.

Either we will be there in the basement, or we will have neighbors available if needed.
At the end of March through early April we will be away and have reduced the rates for that period.
There are four flights of stairs to the beach area. We usually walk up and down a few times a day. The trail is lovely and it's good exercise. But if you have a disability and want to go to the beach frequently, this may be a problem.
The driveway goes right to the side door of the cottage, so it's easy to get things in and out.
Approved dogs are possible, if you first let us know about the breed and temperament.
Air B&B divides the suitability for children at age 2 so we've said yes to kids over 2. We love children, but the beach stairs may be too steep for preschoolers.
My husband Al and I looked at over 150 properties before we found our home. Al calls it a tree house because of the wonderful forest setting. I call it a beach house because I love our beach. Living here is peaceful, and it also helps us be healthy because of the hiking, swimming, and kayaking we can do so close to our home. I'm a writer working on my third non-fiction book. The second, The Demon in My Blood, was published by Greystone Books in spring 2017. Al works in marketing at a college in Vancouver. He commutes there three days a week and entertains his colleagues with his great sense of humor. We enjoy meeting guests from all over the world.
