Amazing location in Hackney! Quiet street tucked behind vibrant Mare Street full of bars, restaurants and cafes. Excellent transport links- 3minute walk to Hackney Central overground giving excellent access to central London, particularly Oxford Street and Soho in around 20 minutes. Beautiful Victoria Park, fun Dalston, the cafes and pubs of London Fields and Broadway Market are all within a 10minute walk. A light, warm flat with a secure entrance where you will feel at home!
The flat is cozy and light with a full kitchen, bedroom with king sized bed and lovely, light living room with dining table, and a terrace if you smoke. The flat is ideal for a couple or a couple of friends, but there is also the option of using the sofa bed in the living room for children or up to 2 extra guests short term. Fast wifi, digital radio, and full kitchen (feel free to use condiments, teas, whatever you need that you can see), basic toiletries and towels supplied. I will leave some suggestions on where to go to eat, drink, and have fun: a huge selection of options, and can also let you know the easiest ways to get to common destinations (though I recommend getting the city-mapper app which is a great. I'll make sure everything is in place for your stay and will be on hand for any queries.
We've lived all over London (from Notting Hill to Brixton) and we couldn't imagine living anywhere other than Hackney. Innovative restaurants and hidden gems, great green spaces, pop up shops, bars and parties. Next door to the famous Broadway market for Saturday food and crafts, followed by a walk along Regent's canal. Hackney is a culturally rich and constantly entertaining area. Traditionally the borough was badly connected, but our flat is right at the centre of the revitalised overground rail and bus transport hub. Soho in 20 mins, Shoreditch in 10, West London (Notting Hill etc) in 40.
You couldn't ask for a better spot in East London for getting around. We're at the epicentre of all the fun things to do in the area (10 min walk in varying directions). We have two different bus stops outside the door serving nearly every destination, and Hackney Central overground is 3 mins away, through which you can connect into the Victoria line at Highbury and Islington or the District and Hammersmith and City line at Whitechapel. Also worth noting that across the road there is a large 24 hour supermarket (Tesco), a late opening organic wholefood shop, a wonderful cinema, and the house itself is positioned behind a theatre (Hackney Empire). The back entrance to the house has a row of recommended pubs along Wilton Way (Spurstowe Arms) a wine shop (Borough Wines) and some great breakfast spots. There is also a pedestrian passage that takes you directly to London Fields/Broadway market.
Getting to the flat is easy from the Eurostar - 30 mins on the number 30 bus from King Cross to Hackney Central, or the Victoria line to Highbury and Islington and then the Overground. A taxi takes about 15 mins and we can recommend cheap car services. From Gatwick get the direct train to Farringdon or Kings Cross, from Heathrow get the tube to Kings Cross and follow the same instructions. Stansted airport is in East London and can be easily reached by train via Seven Sisters, and London City airport is even closer and only a 30 minute taxi ride away.
The flat is on the second floor of a mansion block, with a courtyard, secure entry door, and set on a calm side street. Please note that we are close to a main road though, so whilst we have double glazing you may still hear some traffic.
A new sofa in the living room opens out to a double bed for additional guests.
Good reliable wifi, digital radio, full kitchen (feel free to use condiments, teas, whatever you need that you can see). I'll also leave some suggestions on where to go to eat, drink, and have fun - there is a huge selection of options. I can also let you know the easiest ways to get to popular destinations in London, though definitely recommend downloading the free City-mapper app which is a great way to navigate London.

The place is yours to have in its entirety. I'll make sure everything is in place for your stay and will be on hand for any queries.
I usually rent my flat to long term tenants so it is relatively new to Airbnb and only available occasionally, hence not having many reviews, but I'd love to change that!

The Air B&B community are usually great at treating other people's houses with respect. Feel totally at home. We know that accidents and breakages occasionally happen, just let us know. Any smoking on the terrace please, and we no shoes in the living room or bedroom as the soft sisal flooring can't be washed!
A happy East Londoner currently working in Afghanistan, I travel as much as I can. The closer to the sea and the more open to the sky the better! Will be very nice to your house / flat / castle / yurt and look forward to welcoming guests to London.
