My Place is a live / work creative space in a mixed art & design warehouse building in Chippendale ... A super arty, central & delicious neighbourhood ..! Its an open plan , rustic space with beautiful light & a great location for experiencing Sydney.
The space is a large studio apartment with a loft bed area in a beautifully light filled, high ceilinged space in an old heritage building that houses professional design businesses like photographers, architects , fashion designers, artists and filmmakers... Which is basically the same as the neighbourhood of chippendale in general, One of Sydney's most creatively bourgeoning suburbs... Super creative , fun , delicious, central and convenient ! Close to Bus, trains, ( central station is 10 min easy walk) walk to the city / chinatown, cabs always driving past the door... Bus stop 50m from door, Redfern Station 5 mins walk..Perfect spot for travelling & seeing Sydney! The apartment is used often also as a photo studio, so the furniture is minimal , but comfortable, and flexible to move around. The warehouse as a whole and the apartment is well overdue for a facelift, as it is in a very original unrenovated state... It is definitely "rustic chic" and I love it , it has such good vibes and I feel so at home here... yet it certainly in real life has some rough edges and is more on the "shabby" side ;) but I have put a lot of work into making the apartment a little arty oasis in the city , and i think the relaxed and light feeling of the space balances the "urban warehouse rustic nature' of the building ...! what it lacks in shiny renovated smoothness it makes up for in history, charm & character and rare to find these kinds of authentic unrenovated warehouses in sydney these days.. you step foot downstairs into honestly, a pretty crappy looking entrance way, but after opening up the door to the studio you'll realise how nice it actually is! It has a queen size bed and so is ideal for 1 or a couple... there is a 3 seater couch that could act as a 3rd person's place to sleep if you are travelling as 3, and its actually really comfortable I've slept on it a few times ;) ... however the space isn't really suitable for more than 3...I've just installed a new rainwater shower head in the bathroom which is an amazing little slice of modernity and comfort ...
Kitchen for the guests to use ( please note , the actual OVEN doesn't work presently ( BUT - there is a new bench top hotplate (perfect for scrambling eggs etc, and there is a new microwave-oven) . There is ample tea & coffee, and all utensils / cooking and dining ware you could need. So help yourself to the use of the kitchen and the perishable food items, and of course the herbal teas / coffee etc... there is a New TV with DVD player & you can play music with a bluetooth speaker system. Lots of space to keep luggage. heater & fan in studio... (please note, no central heating or air conditioning) the space is well temperature balanced though, so I find these are good enough in the space. :)

I work freelance and so my job has taken me somewhere, probably Melbourne ( however i am available all times on phone/ email) and my good friend lives very close, so she can be there in case or urgency) Guests will have all the space, independence and privacy they desire. - Please note there are big loft windows that look out onto the alley that I'm used to , and so it is quite open, but there are blinds that cover these if you like some privacy :) ... I find it feels very private, and the bedroom area has its own curtains if you want to still leave the blinds up, which i like doing to keep the feeling of the open space...
For its central location its mostly a nice quiet , calm space where, traffic noise isn't often noticeable and its pretty much calm and relaxing, most of the time ;)... however it must be noted that sound travels in this old creaky building , and for example if a photoshoot is going on downstairs, you can hear it and things like that. while its not bad, its not a little totally quiet bubble, so it might not be ideal if you are super noise sensitive :) at night however, mostly it is generally really relaxed and quiet ..
The weekends can be a little noisier in the neighbourhood, and sound does travel to the apartment, and so once again if you are noise sensitive when sleeping or in general, the serenity cant be guaranteed ;) and the space might not be idea for you... me, i love the vibrant living and knowing im surrounded by things going on and kind of like the buzz, when its there ;) but, some people might not fancy it. > PLEASE take great care when walking up the stairs with your bags.. they are super- old stairs and a little un-even.. currently at the time of writing this - the flouro light in the stairwell is needing to be replace by the owner ( I'm working on this ) - you can still see okay but its a bit darker, so just take care, nice and slow on the old stairs especially with luggae etc and hold onto handrail if required :) .. but then once you get upstairs - I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised! :)
There is no washing machine or dryer, however a cheap and easy coin laundromat is on Myrtle cnr Rose street a couple of blocks away, next to a Deli. Great Pub on the corner of rose/ cleveland street to have a beer in while you are doing your washing! the area is filled with good bars / cafes / things to see and do , who wants to spend time doing washing! I have plastic tubs and a clothes drying rack that i use to hand wash smaller items and intimates , there is garment washing liquid for you to use if you would like to handwash :)... the Bathroom also doesn't have a blind to cover the top windows - but if you have shower and get changed on the other side of the bathroom, it is totally private still, no one can see in that part of the bathroom ...AND one thing to note (which most people are totally cool with, like myself ah ah !) is the shower is in the open in the bathroom ( which i love - freedom!) but that means water splashes on the floor - BUT super quick and easy to deal with - i just give a quick mop of the splash zone after I'm done - 30 seconds - then the rest dries super easy ;).. Also - if anyone has spent any time in sydney, especially inner sydney, they'll know that bugs & cockroaches are unfortunately a common park of living in sydney. so you may occasionally see one. However i try to minimise this by regularly putting out fresh bug baits, and find i hardly ever see one.
One Very important requirement... During the day 7 days a week, my building is a place of work & home for some really lovely people who are doing amazing work. the walls alas are not very soundproof, and so sound can travel.. pretty easily. This apartment is NOT suitable to people intending on turning it into party studio... by all means have a great time and relax in the space, but As i have lovely neighbours who's eardrums, workspace & sleep need to be respected, i ask that you please dont have it as a party space and keep noise down after around 11 or so ... play music, relax, have a couple of friends over and enjoy yourselves for sure, but its not cool to blast the music super loud and party on till the break of dawn... It is a creative space but also a professional one first and foremost, and this is something that is SUPER important and please only apply if you respect this ... :) Its a really fun and easy going building to be in with lots of lovely interesting people, and so if the space & noise is respected ... its an ideal space to stay! Oh, and no smoking ( new alarms will go off ) & no pets please as no outdoor area :(

I am a reliable person, who loves the idea of exploring new places and meeting new people... I think its great being able to find things in common and share experiences of the places we live and travel, and personal recommendations of the locals way to be in a city...but also very independent and wont be a burden on anywhere or anyone where I am staying... I plan to get out there and explore!
5 things i cant live without - well, that is certainly not enough to cover anything...
but I can say coffee...
good food, good friends new & old, respectful and sharing people...
art, music, design, travel, family, friends, travel, chocolate mousse, love, beer, cheese, film, landscapes.... 5 not enough see the list just goes on...
I love the concept of air bnb - getting a bit closer to the local life, in an unknown place... so I welcome any suggestions of things to go / see! And happy to provide mine in return... :)
