Relaxing home/cottage on Lake Quacumquasit / South Pond in Brookfield, MA. Originally a cottage built in 1932, I purchased it as my home in 2004 and did many renovations to the living areas. A second round of renovations recently completed after storm damage sustained in August 2012 - extensive improvements to bathroom, kitchen, master bedroom. I live here but rent in order to supplement income and offer it to guests who will respect my property and belongings. It is a perfect place to escape to and unwind. It's on a small private road, with 4 neighbors. Full disclosure - it's not immediately on the water front, but across the small lane/road. There is direct access to the lake for swimming, kayaks, canoes and fishing via our town beach which is within easy walking distance - less than 1/4 mile (400mtrs), or 2 minutes if you drive there. There's also a boat ramp recently renovated by the lake association.
The house has five rooms: The main livingroom with cathedral ceiling, sky lights, french doors opening to the patio (main entrance) and couch, chairs, coffee table, rugs. A fully equipped kitchen with dining area and chairs, cookware and utensils, plates and flatware, some herbs and spices, olive oil, etc., the essentials. A bathroom with shower, towels and hair dryer, too. There are two bed rooms - one larger with queen bed (sleeps 2), and the other with a small single bed (sleeps 1). Also, there is floor space for air mattresses and sleeping bags, etc. For your convenience there are clothes washer and dryer, and easy parking. There is a TV and DVD player, Spectrum Cable with basic TV channels. Wifi is available.
The entire property is perched on a knoll that is above the neighbors affording a beautiful, unobstructed view of the lake. One neighbor is close, abutting the rear of my cottage, but the cottage and property is situated in such a way that blocks them and provides for excellent privacy. The front of the cottage opens to the patio (15'x20' with furniture) which then extends out across a large yard - perfect for games, frolicking and lounging. It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. A perfectly comfortable year 'round cottage: Summers are lazy and cool, Autumn is stunningly beautiful, Winter is cozy and warm.

I am an experienced traveler across North, Central and South Americas, Europe and Africa. My travel motto: drink up the culture - meet the people, speak the language, dance and eat great food! And if there's an ocean, swim. I began by hitchhiking, then walking, driving and now I take my motorcycle whenever possible. I like to travel lightly and unencumbered.
As a guest, I am neat, courteous, easy to get along with and respectful of others' property and space. I chose to get involved with Airbnb because I like the warmth of staying in a home rather than hotel, and the chance to make friends and share information that only a "local" can have.
I chose to host for many of the same reasons. As a host, I provide a clean and attractive home. I strive to be prepared - all rooms are clean and fresh, and everything is in working condition (or I clearly indicate otherwise). Beds have clean linens with a change of linens and additional blankets should you need them. Typically, I will meet you upon your arrival or I'll arrange for a friend to greet you.
I enjoy music and entertainment, attending events of most any discription, and have a curious mind that loves to explore and learn. It's the best way to stay young. I am fit and swim frequently during the week, so I am always interested to know if there is a lake, YMCA or pool in the area.
I hope we can meet, and I thank you for considering me to be part of your travel experiences.
