This sweet, bright wall tent is located on a tucked away organic farm, 45 minutes from bar harbor. Closing in November, it is true camping for the rest of the month, potentially chilly! Hiking and dining nearby. Simple rustic accommodations with: full size futon, running water, cook stove, small oven/toaster, lights, electricity and composting sawdust toilet (on back porch) Coffee/machine supplied. Eggs/veggies are for sale on farm. The shower and Wi-Fi are in the main house a short walk away.
The tent is tucked into a corner of our property and in lush summer is very private. We have got it set up to have most of the comforts of home in a camping type set up. People love to stay on the farm (we have another Airbnb space on the property) and foray out to Bar Harbor. It can be very busy on the island, so it is nice to have a getaway! You can feel free to wander most spaces of the farm and visit with the chickens, ducks and dogs... Our dog Scout is a real lover (but tell him off if he jumps!) who often guards the farm at night and you might hear him barking at night. you can choose to let him visit inside or not, meaning you may need to tie the bottom ties of the door flap so he doesn't nose his way in for a pet! We just made a little fire pit out in front, and don't forget to bring ice!
As our more rustic offering, we don't have Wi-Fi out to the tent, but the ground floor of the house is accessible any time for Wi-Fi and showers. The shower is straight ahead across the main room when you walk in the bottom floor door. There is a dry sawdust composting toilet system that is very clean (no stink!) on the back porch and running water to the tent. Guests can wander around the farm and access the Sunrise Trail right from the property but respect posted signs at neighbors' properties. We have a canoe on nearby Little (horseshoe) pond that you are welcome to use also.

We are often around on the farm and happy to show people around, but have busy lives with young ish kids (11 and 14) so it is catch as catch can. We try to have everything set up and easy to understand so that even if you need to check in late, you should have no problems.
Your five star review means a lot to us, so please read all info and ask questions! There is a small convenience store nearby, but most supplies should be found in Ellsworth before coming Downeast. Lots of hidden gem hikes right nearby if you don't want to venture into bar harbor. Country style and fine dining all available within fifteen minutes. We have a lot of local neighbors known as black flies from mid may to early July, they are fairly blood thirsty but as long as you are a moving target, they can't get you too much (and they don't like indoors!)
Please please read all info! Our farm is pretty casual, but we don't allow animals because we have working dogs, chickens and ducks. It's just hard to integrate other animals. Folks can come into the ground floor at any time to take showers or use the Wi-Fi, but there will be no signal in the tent.
My husband Jeff and I have slowly built up a homestead over the last ten years, as we have been raising our two children, now 11 and 14. Jeff is a carpenter who has built all of the structures on our land, and I am a farmer, permaculture consultant and daily yoga practitioner. In a perfect world, i would surf every morning... I have traveled around the world working on organic farms and have surfed for half my life. I hope to continue to travel and surf as long as possible...
