This spacious and elegant cabin with 30' ceilings is ideal for fishing groups, families and everyone else who is looking for a wonderful spot in nature where they can explore & unwind. It features 2 unique sleeping lofts and one traditional bedroom, 2 baths, a large and well-appointed kitchen, big living room and a laundry/mud room. Lodging tax and pet fees aren't included; we'll advise on these fees & you can pay them while here.
Alpen Glow is a wonderful, pet-friendly cabin that has an extraordinary deck overlooking the river. The railings are see-through with stainless steel cable horizontals to optimize the view.
The huge kitchen is fully appointed. Pretty much, if it doesn't have it, you don't need it. There is a large pantry with many basics. There is dining for 8-10 (if approved; Alpen Glow is priced for up to 7 guests).
The large living room has 30-foot ceilings, an electric fireplace that provides pleasant heat and is stunning to watch, an extensive library, flat panel TV with Dish TV and DVD player with a large library of movies.
The very large leather sectional features a recliner and a comfortable hide-a-bed, so extra guests can sleep there and not on the futon in the master loft, which gives everyone more privacy.
Alpen Glow has Wi-Fi, cable TV and a (shared) land line phone with free long distance. It has all kinds of sleeping areas, including two lofts (one is an enormous master loft with a CalKing bed and in-room Jacuzzi tub. Its closets are so large, we even put a twin bed in one of them). There is one traditional bedroom with a queen bed and a twin bed and the leather sectional in the living room has a queen hide-a-bed in it as well as room for another sleeper on the other side of the couch. Yes, it is THAT big! More details below:
The lofts are open, but do not look on each other. The spacious Master Loft has a California King log bed with an organic memory foam topper, wood stove, Jacuzzi tub in room (not an outdoor hot tub; a bathing tub), queen futon and a private bath (toilet & shower; double vanity).
The River Loft log bed looks out over the river, mountains and sky. The traditional bedroom on the main floor has a handsome wrought iron queen bed with pillowtop mattress and a twin bed.
There's a mud room that's great for drying gear. The mud room has an additional pantry, washer and dryer, plus a deep sink.
Alpen Glow has an enormous deck overlooking the Trinity River, mountains and trees. Year-round, this is a favored spot for guests.
There is a shared BBQ patio on the upriver side of Alpen Glow, but the majority of the cabin focuses on the river and guests rarely see other cabins' guests unless they go out of their way.
Birdsong is so abundant, it boggles the mind. There is salmon and trout fishing at the cabin, plus a swimming hole. Wonderful ponds nearby are warmer than the river in summer, and fun for calm water swimming and playing with your dogs.
A log swing and comfy chairs are all around the 1.15 acre lot that is shared by 2 other cabins, each unique in its own right and private from each other, but close enough you can rent all for a large group, as many family reunions in summer and fishing groups in winter do.
There are no other properties on the Trinity River that equal this location. It really does have everything.
Guests have their own salmon hole and the parking lot is large enough to accommodate several trailers with rafts and drift boats.

You only see us if you would like to, unless we're on the property doing maintenance. It's your vacation, and we treat your privacy accordingly.
Highway 299 goes by up the mountain a bit and over a berm. You can hear traffic on it, but this isn't the city and it is not constant.
Pretty Simple: Leave the cabin looking close to how you found it: Swept or vacuumed, clean dishes, fairly tidy. We'll take it from there.
We recycle and compost as much material as possible and ask you to help by separating items into specific containers. No smoking inside cabins. Keep it quiet after 10 PM unless you rent all 3 cabins on the property.
Pick up after dogs and put poop bags in garbage.
My husband, Steph Dutton, and I own and run Dunsmuir's Alpine Ski & Fish Haus and Trinity River Adventure Inn river cabins.
Steph is the only person to paddle a kayak from Victoria, B.C. Canada to Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. I worked on tug boats before heading to Alaska to start the Sitka Sea Kayak Adventure, and that's where we met. We are both Coast Guard licensed sea captains who created and ran Sanctuary Cruises, a great whale watching company on the Monterey Bay.
We have 5 river cabins in Lewiston and Douglas City in Trinity County, as well as the Alpine Haus in Dunsmuir (Siskiyou County). We love skiing Shasta and established Dunsmuir as our own ski retreat, but find it immensely fun to visit year-round. We live right on the Trinity River and we love it, but we enjoy Dunsmuir's wonderful restaurants within walking distance (several are pet-friendly in summer on their patios!).
