A beautiful, beach-front hostel in the peaceful, surf town: Ayampe, Ecuador. La Casa hostel is situated right on the sand overlooking the magical Pacific horizon, framed by the two rocks that define the Ayampe coast. The atmosphere cannot get better than this! We built La Casa to create a very special environment, characteristic of the village of Ayampe itself: warm, authentic and open-hearted. At La Casa, we offer travelers a place to stay long term. It might be the Yoga and tranquil environment, the consistent waves, the beautiful river, the magical islands in front of the beach, the delicious food, the simple and happy people, or just the fact that in Ayampe you feel a little more real than anywhere else. At La Casa, our place is your place - a place where you feel at home even in a foreign country.

We actually do not live in the hostel, but rather, next door to the hostel. However, we often spend parts of the day in the hostel hanging out with our guests. We also take part in the yoga classes we offer and host potluck style BBQs, which we call our "community dinners". We try to host these at least once a week to share and spend time with our guests. When we are not in the hostel, you can find us on the beach playing with our dog, Mokha, or, more likely, in the line-up surfing :-) We look forward to meeting you and sharing our beautiful paradise with you!
There are food trucks that usually come at least once a day to sell fresh fruit and vegetables as well as freshly caught fish, shrimp, and calamari (items differ day to day).

Five years prior to getting married to Arian, José moved to Ayampe with a dream to create a community-based hostel where you can share your culture, stories, and values with travelers from all over the world.
Together, we strive to provide a haven for the traveler who desires their independence and privacy, while still having the opportunity to share stories, meals, and adventures with other travelers. We like to say La Casa doesn’t have guests; it has a family… so you may come solo, but you will leave with a family.
Our place is your place — a place where you feel at home, even in a foreign country. This was the pillar of La Casa and our motivation to build La Casa like a home, rather than your typical hostel.
We look forward to welcoming you to your new home-away-from-home at La Casa!
Mucho gusto (nice to meet you),
- José and Arian
