Beautiful self-catering one bedroom barn conversion. Positioned in the lovely hills near Ruthin, North Wales, UK. Open plan, tastefully furnished, fully equipped kitchen, wet room, own garden, accessible and an ideal haven for two.
In what is now a private hamlet the Shippon shares the classic farmyard space next to the owners' house, also a barn conversion. You are invited to enjoy the comfort of the fully self-contained, high-ceilinged living space. Watch the woodpeckers and other birds on the feeder and see the sun setting over the valley. The garden is accessed through the large oak French doors. The interior has rounded edges and retains original and hand crafted charm, while offering mod cons. All in all, a delightful romantic idyll. On one floor, with no stairs or step and gorgeous bona-fide wet room, the space has also been designed to offer a comfortable stay to the less-abled and wheelchair users without compromising style. Please note for we have another one bedroom property at this location under 'Studio in Lovely Barn Conversion' and are happy to link bookings. We share the farmyard with neighbours in a farmhouse.
The Shippon is self-contained. In addition to their own patio and garden, guests have access to rural walks from the door. Please note there are uneven surfaces around the property. The Shippon is accessed via a shared farmyard with neighbouring properties.

We greet our guests on arrival if we can. We like to leave people in peace, but we do have conversations with our guests as we encounter each other in the yard or on the paths during their stay. One or the other of us is generally around to give local tips, directions and advice. If we are away we will supply a key code for the door.
One or two well-behaved dogs are welcome subject to certain rules, please notify us on booking about breed/type and to receive details of rules/cautions.
Latest arrival time: 9 pm, unless previously agreed.
Minimum stay is 3 nights in high season.
Honesty policy: Pets: Dog/cat mess should be cleared up by the owner straight away, like in a public park. Dogs or cats must not under any circumstances be left alone in the property. Dogs must be kept on a lead outside the property. There is important information about dogs in the guest info folder which the owner is responsible for familiarising themselves with. Guests are expected to inform us about any breakages/damage as soon as it occurs to enable earliest replacement/repairs. Breakages and damage must be paid for on departure. Guests are asked to leave the premises in a clean and tidy condition (ie washing up done and things put away). Stripping the bed is always very helpful. We do not expect guests to thoroughly clean the place, just leave it in a decent state.Recycling and waste must be separated into the three categories for which bins and instructions are provided: organic waste, recyclable waste and non-recyclable waste, and placed in the corresponding outside bins on departure. The waste collection service will refuse to take the waste if it is not correctly sorted. Complaints: every effort has been made to ensure a pleasant stay, but if something is wrong please inform us immediately so we can put it right.
We moved here in 2003 from London and set about converting the barns. Robin did a lot of the work himself with local help. We have run 2 holiday cottages from this hamlet. We've had a variety of jobs from boat building to film pr and both used to live on boats on the Thames.
