A winding forest road leads to this stone-built hilltop maison de maître, enjoying absolute privacy and panoramic views of the countryside. The house has private swimming pool and garden, including an outdoor dining terrace shaded by fig trees.
Manor (main building)
The generous main hall, accessed by a south-facing terrace, contains a large dining area at one end and a sitting room at the other, with stone-flagged floors, exposed stone walls and ancient wood beams, a souillarde (original kitchen, now a side-room) and two fireplaces (including a huge cantou or ‘walk-in fireplace' with a small bread oven). You actually have to walk through this fireplace to access the modern kitchen and butler's pantry/laundry room.
The sitting room area in the main hall leads to a comfortable study/ bedroom with a single bed and en suite bathroom.
The main courtyard entrance with its superb original door opens to a stone spiral staircase (also accessible from the hall), which leads to the master bedroom (mezzanine level) with wood floors, two single beds, and an en-suite bathroom with its own stone fireplace. Further up the spiral staircase, on the first floor, are two further bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two twin beds, followed by a cosy study. Leading off the study is a small consecrated chapel (suitable for intimate weddings) and a further bathroom. The top of the stairs, once a watch tower, contains attic space, a small room with a window and splendid views.
The ground floor contains a living room with a tiled and wooden floor. The first floor, with a wooden floor, has a double bed for extra guests, as does the third floor.
There is also a splendid original ‘bakery' with a working bread oven.
The manor is accessed via a working dairy farm, but the cattle spend the days grazing out of sight.
There are, however, two donkeys who live on the property – Oscar and Rabanne. Both are very friendly and love company.
Guests have access to all areas in this completely secluded summer holiday property.

The owners will not be in evidence, but we do have two neighbours living permanently next door.
The house is looked after by an English-speaking local couple who will deal with keys etc.
1The property is offered for holiday rental subject to confirmation by Anthony Fabian (“the Owner”) to the renter (“the Client”).
2To reserve the property, the Client should complete and sign the booking form and return it together with payment of the initial non-refundable booking deposit (30% of the total rent due). Following receipt of the booking form and booking deposit, the Owner will send a confirmation via e-mail. This is the formal acceptance of the booking.
3The balance of the rent together with the security deposit (see clause 5) is payable not less than two months before the start of the rental period. If payment is not received by the due date, the Owner reserves the right to give notice in writing that the reservation is cancelled. The client will remain liable to pay the balance of the rent unless the Owner is able to re-let the Property. In this event clause 6 of these booking conditions will apply. Reservations made within eight weeks of the start of the rental period require full payment at the time of booking.
4Any chargeable expenses arising during the rental period should be settled locally with the Owner’s representative before departure.
5A security deposit of £500 is required in case of, for example, damage to the property or its contents. However, the sum reserved by this clause shall not limit the Client’s liability to the Owner. The Owner will account to the Client for the security deposit and refund the balance due within four weeks after the end of the rental period.
6Subject to clauses 2 and 3 above, in the event of a cancellation, refunds of amounts paid will be made if the Owner is able to re-let the Property, and any expenses or losses incurred in so doing will be deducted from the refundable amount. The Client is strongly recommended to arrange a comprehensive travel insurance policy (including cancellation cover) and to have full cover for the party’s personal belongings, public liability etc, since these are not covered by the Owner’s insurance.
7The rental period shall commence at 16.00 on the first day and finish at 10.00 on the last day. The Owner shall not be obligated to offer the accommodation before the time stated and the Client shall not be entitled to remain in occupation after the time stated
8The maximum number to reside in the Property must not exceed 10 unless the Owner has given written permission.
9The Client will not bring pets to the property.
10The Client agrees not to smoke or allow any guests to smoke indoors at the Property.
11The Client agrees to be a considerate tenant and to take good care of the Property and to leave it in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the rental period. Although a final clean is included in our prices, the Owner reserves the right to make a retention from the security deposit to cover additional cleaning costs if the Client leaves the Property in an unacceptable condition. The Client also agrees not to act in any way which would cause disturbance to those resident in neighbouring properties.
12The client shall report to the Owner’s agent without delay any defects in the Property or breakdown in the equipment, plant, machinery or appliances in the Property, garden or swimming pool, and arrangements for repair and /or replacement will be made as soon as possible
13The Owner shall not be liable to the Client
a.For any temporary defect or stoppage in the supply of public services to the Property, nor in respect of any equipment, plant, machinery or appliance in the property, garden or swimming pool.
b.For any loss, damage or injury which is the result of adverse weather conditions, riot, war, strikes or other matters beyond the control of the Owner.
c.For any loss, damage or inconvenience caused to or suffered by the Client if the property shall be destroyed or substantially damaged before the start of the rental period and any such event, the Owner shall, within seven days notification to the Client, refund to the Client all sums previously paid in respect of the rental period.
14Under no circumstances shall the Owner’s liability to the client exceed the amount paid to the Owner for the rental period.
15The pool meets recent French legislation, which states that it must be protected at all times when there is no one close by. The Owner will hold the Client responsible for any accident to themselves and to any third party.
16Children under 16 must be supervised at all times by an adult around the pool area.
