We would not recommend staying here. I am sure others have had better experiences, but our experience was terrible. We booked for one week, but immediately after accepting our booking, Isabelle sent a message saying she didn’t have a room the first night of our stay, that she would drive us to another place to stay that night, and asked if it was okay. Since our money was gone as soon as she accepted our booking, we said yes (there was really no choice). When we arrived, Isabel drove us to the other location, and explained that we would not see her again since she was going on holiday. The other place was nice, but when we were dropped off at La Maison du Sart at 10:30 we were told our room would not be available until 5 in the afternoon. So, we had no room for several hours despite paying for one.
When we finally got to our room, the trash had not been emptied. Our room was not cleaned during the week (though I admit we were in there more often than most people would have been but part of that was because the internet was so slow or not working much of the time, so we had to wait to do things that should have taken less time). The “private bath” was ours alone, though it was not accessible from the room but from the landing, so not actually private. And though the staff could have cleaned our bath at almost any time, it was also never cleaned the six days we were there.
Isabelle spoke a little English, but she was gone, and her husband spoke a little more but he was rarely there. The young woman who served breakfast and cleaned spoke no English, so for most hours there was no one to help if something went wrong or to ask for recommendations for food (the only recommendation from Isabel before she left was a place down the street, where each plate was around 20 euro). Late in the week the husband did recommend a couple of other places in the neighborhood.
Our internet worked occasionally but never fast, and in the middle of our stay stopped completely. No one was available to ask for help for hours, but when the husband eventually came home, he checked, said it wasn’t working and that we should wait. I suggested he call someone to see about getting it fixed because I needed it for work and to make future reservations. He eventually said he would call Isabelle, and suggested we go somewhere else to use the internet. I asked where and he had no suggestions, so we had to trek back into city centre and find a café with wifi so I could work. When we returned there was a note saying the internet would be working the next morning and if not he would take me to a place with internet available.
The next day the internet worked until the evening when it stopped again. It worked again the next morning (after I unplugged and plugged in their router), but stopped working again that afternoon. When we finally saw the husband again, he said he had tried to unplug and plug in the router with no success, and he didn’t seem to have any further plans to fix the problem, though I had previously told him I needed it for work, we needed it to make plans and reservations for our next stops, and we had important calls to make via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN).
Do not stay here if you want good service or expect the internet to work.
