After accepting our reservation, we never heard from Fabrizio (even after messaging him the day prior to arriving and the day of arriving). After finding the B&B a neighbor told us to go to Hotel Bristol because it is the "same thing". Hotel Bristol is run by Fabrizio's sister who was very nice and set us up with a room. Breakfast at Bristol was great.
The location at the heart of the Old Town id great. The room and bathroom have three insulated french doors opening onto a balcony with a charming view over the rooftops, and the sun washes in bright in the morning. There is a nice expresso machine and a milk foamer, an electric tea pot with a great selection of teas, cookies, bread and a cold breakfast are supplied in the room, and the bed is made every day. But pictures can be misleading, and make a place look a lot bigger, brighter and more cheerful than it actually is. Including in the listing pictures of areas not directly related to the lodging can be misleading too. May be I am stupid, but I thought we would somehow have a big balcony with a great view over the countryside. lso, the room is on the 4th floor, with a pretty steep staircase for seventy year olds. We were indeed disappointed on arrival in the evening to find a rather small and poorly lighted room. Our very nice host didn't speak much English, so we dealt with his daughter. She was offended when we told her that. We wanted to shorten our stay, but she said that wasn't possible because the booking was paid in advance for the week. She was accommodating enough though, and offered us "as a favor" a room at the Hotel Bristol nearby which they also own. We chose to stay in he room, and our stay was fine. The little refrigerator didn't work, the strip of colored RGB LED lights above the bed didn't allow reading, the room WAS dark at night, the water temperature of the shower was fickle, as is often the case in Europe, the WIFI was very very slow, and the bedding was short and thin. But then again, this was not a private home, but a commercial Bed and Breakfast. On departure, we had to lug our heavy luggage down 4 flights of steps because "it was too early" to use the luggage elevator. Try to deal with the men of the family, it's a lot easier and more enjoyable...
