This is one of the most important historical villas of Capri with a stunning view on the Faraglioni
The villa is located in via Pizzolungo, the scenic walkway that leads from the nearby viewpoint of Tragara to the Natural Arch.
It is a fifteen minutes walk from the “Piazzetta”.
In its characteristic simplicity, it is one of the historic houses in Capri. Built in 1880 by the Spadaro family, it is recorded in various publications.
The 1922 book “La casa nel paesaggio di Capri” by Edwin Cerio includes a powerful drawing of the house by the Venetian painter Gennaro Favai.
Over the years, Villa Monacone hosted artists, writers, exiles, people more and less extraordinary.
Among the others, the Austrian painter Oscar Kokoschka, who covered its walls with portraits of his beloved Alma Mahler – later scratched out by the landowner – and Monika Mann, Thomas Mann’s daughter, who spent there thirty years of her romance with the younger son of the builder of the house.
The house is rented as a whole, with a total of four rooms, three bathrooms and two kitchens.
The smallest apartment includes a room with a double bed, a bathroom with outdoor shower, a room with two single sofa-beds, table and chairs, a small kitchen and a bathroom with shower.
The largest apartment includes a spacious living room with two sofas, fireplace, table and chairs, a smaller room with a single sofa-bed, a bathroom with a bath and a kitchen.
The house includes a balcony overlooking the Faraglioni rocks and a shaded terrace, plus a laundry room and garden spaces (see the page "Galleria").
The most enjoyable arrangement is up to five occupants.
There are three singles, a double and two couches with pull-out bed.
The latter are in the living room and not consider them in beds.
Single beds are standard size.
One is in the room between the living room and the kitchen and has an orthopedic mattress.
The other two single beds are in the double room on the other side and have soft mattresses
The double bed is very wide, and has a Japanese futon mattress, hard.
Pets not admitted.
A cleaning service and watering of plants can be supplied during the week.
The famous Faraglioni bathing establishments can be reached in ten minutes walking down on a pathway through pines and the Mediterranean scrub. If you want to avoid climbing back, you can take a boat to Marina Piccola and continue by bus or taxi to the Piazzetta.
