Unique, colorful, two bedroom, two bathroom, shotgun-style apartment with great designer touches, backyard garden, and great location on quiet block in Bywater neighborhood. Minutes from the FQ and dozens of great restaurants, bars and activities.
You'll feel like you live in New Orleans in my colorful, light-filled Bywater apartment.
The apartment is great.. very inviting and feels like a cool haven on hot days. A great place to relax, recharge and use as a base for exploring New Orleans. Truly and oasis.
The apartment is spacious and beautifully decorated with local and global artwork. I'm a professional artist and work in different parts of the world, and the apartment's decor reflects my love of travel, color and space. French wallpaper, Haitian art, furniture from Bali, paintings by local New Orleans artists and details from around the globe. Bookcase filled with great photo books to inspire your armchair or actual travels.
Apartment is approximately 1200 sf with 6 rooms, including 2 bedrooms with queen-sized beds, 2 full bathrooms, a living room and a dining room.
The living room has comfy couch hardwood floors, ceiling fans (and central air), 12-foot ceilings, the house was built in 1904 and has old-world ambiance with modern conveniences.
The apartment is traditional New Orleans shotgun-style (the rooms are all in a row from front to back). Second full bathroom in middle of house is great for night-time privacy.
Entrances at front and back of house.
Large galley kitchen perfect for cooking or hanging out with a glass of wine. Kitchen has all the amenities of home, great for cooking elaborate meals or just keeping things on hand for quick breakfasts. Kitchen equipped with everything needed for creating group dinners (colorful dishes, serving platters, napkins, place mats, etc).
Multiple outdoor living areas including deck with screened gazebo with table and comfy chairs, fountain/lily pond and charming secret garden backyard with seating areas for chilling.
Front porch is shady with chairs and lots of flowers and plants. A great place to sip a cocktail, read the paper or just watch the world.

I'll be there to welcome guests and answer any questions about the apartment, neighborhood, etc. If I am unavailable or out of town, I will arrange for a point person to be available for guests. If guests prefer self check in, that's cool too.
I live in the adjacent apartment (on other side of shotgun house) with divided backyard and divided front porch. I have a Great Dane who stays only on my side. I am available as much as needed by guests and at the same time respect the privacy of others. I give guests all the space they need/ want. I'll offer suggestions about whatever. I love New Orleans and love to share what I love about it, and let people in on the secret gems of the area.
Neighbors are friendly and my block has a great, calm vibe.
I am a professional tarot card reader and may be available for readings.
Guests can contact me after booking to inquire about availability and rates.
Prefer three night minimum stay for Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras.

Update: I have recently had a couple sets of guests add extra guests during their stay without permission. Please note: This is totally not allowed and uncool. I have a 5 person limit unless otherwise arranged / agreed upon by me ahead of time. There is a $25 fee for each guest over 4 guests.
In regular news:
I expect my guests to be respectful and mature. No parties, being loud, rowdy, excessive drinking on porch....This is not a party house.
Respect the neighbors and no candles at any time.
I expect that the house is treated well and with care. I don't not allow guests to have overnight visitors unless included on original booking. This is serious.
Also, do not invite people you don't know or just met into the house or to hang out on the porch/ in back gazebo etc.
After 10 and especially when coming home late,
Please don't congregate in the kitchen. There is a bedroom on the other side of the wall.
Please keep noise down, especially after 10pm.
Sorry, no pets.
No smoking of any kind in house. Ok outside.
Please turn lights/ a/c down when not in use.
Please turn front and back porch lights off durning day and when not in use.
Please close the gate after entering and exiting.
Please enjoy New Orleans responsibly :)
I am a professional artist and educator based in New Orleans. I travel a great deal for teaching and for projects, which I love. I'm a public artist specializing in architectural mosaics and community-based art. I have been doing this kind of work for almost 25 years through my company True Mosaic Studio and more recently through my organization, The Global Mosaic Project. Lately have been working in Haiti doing a series of mosaic projects in a new hospital being built by public health organization Partners In Health.
I love New Orleans!
