IF YOU WOULD ENJOY CLEAN AIR, GOOD PRODUCE, QUIET VILLAGE LIFE, AND A LOVELY HOUSE TO REST IN AT THE END OF YOUR DAY, YOU MIGHT VERY WELL LIKE THIS (URL HIDDEN) ARE 2 BEDROOMS OFFERED, ONE ACCOMODATES 2 GUESTS, THE OTHER ACCOMODATES 3 GUESTS.
On 12 rue Ferlus, in the village of Soreze, France, is my lovely, 3 story 400-year-old house. Located in the region known as Le Midi Pyrenees in the Tarn, Soreze is exactly one hour’s car ride from TOULOUSE, and is nestled in the southwestern part of France. This modest house has 3 bedrooms, a toilet with shower, and a kitchen--totally furnished. The middle floor has one bedroom furnished with 2 large single beds, and another with one double bed and a single bed/lounging couch ( the salon). The town has attracted a large artistic community--both national and international--has several restaurants, several boulangeries, several markets, and a jazz club a few nights per week during the summer. At the top of the town, within the precinct of a former 18th century Military Academy for boys from the wealthy families across France, is a performing arts facility with notable operatic, musical, and theatrical productions from Toulouse and various regions of France.
The town 8 kilometers away, Revel, sponsors a weekly farmer's market that has been operating since the 12th century; Lake Feriole is minutes outside of Revel.
The region is historic with sights and events including: remnants of the Cathars; the beginnings of the Canal du Midi; a shopping paradise of antiques found reasonably priced at rotating weekend 'vides greniers' (attic sales) in various towns in the region; signs of the Roman era; boasts good air, water, produce; and, during July and August, is laced with endless acres of sunflowers to nourish the eyes. It is easy to see why the Impressionists found the rolling landscape and the quality of light in this region so inspiring.
IF YOU WANT A LOVELY, TRULY RESTFUL EXPERIENCE OF THE RURAL FLAVOR OF FRANCE OUTSIDE OF PARIS, COME VISIT SOREZE. BUT, IF YOU ARE AN URBAN FLANNEUR, TOULOUSE IS ONE HOUR AWAY!
GUESTS HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR ROOM, THE BATHROOM, THE VERY SMALL GARDEN, THE KITCHEN TO MAKE TEA/COFFEE, CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST PROVIDED. LUNCH AND DINNER TO BE TAKEN OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE. ME, FOR SOME GUIDANCE FOR WHERE THINGS ARE IN THE VILLAGE, THE NEARBY VILLAGES, SHOPPING, ETC. MUST STAY FOR 2 NIGHTS MINIMUM.

I AM SOCIAL AND LIKE HAVING OTHERS AROUND. I AM A VISUAL ARTIST, AND I WORK AND SLEEP ON THE TOP FLOOR BEDROOM AND ATELIER. I WELCOME CONVERSATION, AND I SEE THE GREAT BENEFIT OF AIRBnB AS A CHANCE TO MEET NEW PEOPLE AND HAVE THE EXPERIENCE OF 'INN KEEPER'.
THE AREA IS CONVENIENT FOR BIKE RIDING, SINCE OFF THE MAIN ROAD ARE KILOMETERS OF QUITE ROADS; IF YOU HAVE A BIKE, YOU WILL MOST LIKELY LOVE THE TERRAIN. HIKING IS WHAT MANY DO WHILE HERE, AND THE LOCAL TOURIST BUREAU IS VERY HELPFUL FOR THIS, AS WELL AS MANY THINGS TO DO IN THE REGION. SCHEULED CULTURAL EVENTS TAKE PLACE AT VARIOUS TIMES DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS, SOMETIME FROM INTERNATIONAL PERFORMERS, AS WELL AS REGIONAL TALENT (TOULOUSE IS A WORLD CLASS MUSIC CITY, SO PERFORMERS FREQUENTLY COME FROM THAT SETTING.)
THIS HOUSE WELCOMES VISITORS WHO ARE RESPECTFUL, ON THE QUIET SIDE, NEAT, AND WHO LIVE INTERESTING LIVES. A MINIMUM OF 2 NIGHTS PER BOOKING. LOUD MUSIC AND LATE-NITE REVELRY WOULD BE INAPPROPRIATE. CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST IS PROVIDED, AND LUNCH/DINNER MUST BE TAKEN OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE. THE POSSIBLITY OF A PET NEEDS TO BE DISCUSSED.
CLEANING AFTER ONE'S SELF IS IMPORTANT TO ME. SHARING STORIES FROM ONE'S DAYS ON THIS PLANET ARE VERY WELCOMED. GUESTS WHO APPRECIATE WARM HOSPITALITY COME TO THE HEAD OF THE LINE. GUESTS MUST STAY FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO (2) NIGHTS. SMOKING IS ALLOWED OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE ONLY.
FINALL, ENGLISH IS THE LANGUAGE OF THE HOUSE (WITH A SMATTERING OF FRENCH AND PANTOMIME ON MY PART).

I am a visual artist, who works in a mixed-media, 3-D format, with occasional opportunities for temporary, site-specific installations. I am Assistant Dean of the Film/Video School at CalArts, and am faculty in the Character Animation Program. I have lived at the Brewery for 15 years and love the space I live in, the industrial environment of the Brewery, aspects of the community that lives/works here, and the central placement of this complex in the greater LA area.
