In the north the Massif des Maures mountain range protects it from cold winds of the Mistral. Near the coast,the beautiful Lérins Islands outside Cannes. The surrounding villages and cities nearby offer shops with local and regional products, markets, restaurants, bars and cafés. Here you also find a fast boat transportation with Les Bateaux Verts to Les Issambres, St Tropez and Port Grimaud. There is a shoreline promenade with parks, pine trees, boulodrome Prince Bertil, the tourist office and the city beaches. Also a Casino with its own piece of white sand in Sainte Maxime.
Should you wish to further explore the cultural offerings of St. Tropez, near the western end of the main harbor area, the "Annonciade" Museum is a riveting collection of post-Impressionist, Fauve and other early 20th Century art. Housed in a converted church, the collection includes striking works by Matisse, Dufy, Bonnard and Derain, as well as other early modern masters. In addition, the views of the town and harbor from the windows of the museum are quite distinctive.
