I am Turkish, born and raised in Istanbul. I studied in England for high school. I moved to the United States to attend university in Washington, DC. After I graduated, I moved to New York to start working. I also finished my masters degree while living in New York. After working in the financial sector in New York for many years, I moved back to Istanbul. I live here now with my husband who is an American. We both love living in Istanbul as it is beautiful, fun and culturally very rich.
After moving back, I started working with my family on a residential renovation project. We renovated a registered historical building and turned it into four rental units and an art gallery. The renovation works were implemented through an understanding of responsibility towards history, culture and environment by preserving the building's authentic structure and elements. The building was awarded a LEED silver certificate by the US Green Building Council for its environmentally responsible features.
My family and I love traveling. We'd like to stay in serviced and furnished flats when we travel because we find them more relaxing and more homey; we like cooking our own breakfast in the morning, for example. Plus we believe that you can feel a city better this way. This is why we wanted to bring the same concept to Istanbul.
