GAMBOA BEACH - MORRO DE SAO PAULO - BAHIA - BRAZIL
80m2 of artisan work in wood and glass in the middle of the Atlantic Forest, with a terrace from which birds, little monkeys, and other species can be observed, 100m away from the powdery white sand beach of Gamboa on the Tinhare island, next to the famous village of Morro de Sao Paulo - Bahia - Brazil.
Sailing, Windsurfing, Waterskiing, Kayaking courses or rentals can be organized at a small Yacht Club on the same beach.
Day trips to the natural swimming pools of the less accessible village of Boipeba can be organized with locals. Diving in the pristine waters of Ponta de Castelhanos can be organized in Morro de Sao Paulo.
Horse riding and other more touristic activities can be found in agencies in Morro de Sao Paulo, although I will not advertise for them.
Read the "O Ócio Criativo" (which could be translated as "The Creative Leasure") from the Italian author Domenico De Masi, and you will understand why he lists only 3 places in the world, 1 of them being Bahia.
MORRO DE SAO PAULO
The village of Morro de São Paulo is world-wide famous and a beloved destination of Spanish, Italians, Argentinians and Israelis, packed with trendy people, nice restaurants and beach parties.
It's 272 km away from the city of Salvador by route and 60 km by sea. The way to go to the Tinhare island, where the villages of Morro de Sao Paulo, Gamboa and Boipeba are situated, is by boat or by regular flights that go from the airport of Salvador to the local airstrip.
After a 20 minute walk along the beach of the Tip of the Rock, there is the village of Gamboa. Gamboa, until recent years seemed to be kilometers away from Morro de São Paulo, for there was no sign of the tourism development that was bustling in Morro de São Paulo.
It has continued being a peaceful fishing village. Perhaps this is the reason why some inhabitants have moved here and built houses and inns.
However, although the infrastructure has developed somewhat, the peaceful atmosphere of this fishing town is still preserved, and still, the proximity to Morro de Sao Paulo and its night life, makes Gamboa the perfect destination.
In Gamboa, the waters are calm and crystalline and the beach serene, with few people moving about.
South of the Tinharé island, across the narrow Rio do Inferno, sits the much less accessible village of Boipeba, quiet, rustic and said to be what Morro de São Paulo was 20 years ago. The pristine coastline, including natural swimming pools, and with more than 20km of beautiful, deserted beaches, including Ponta de Castelhanos, known for its diving, makes a perfect day trip.
