“5 Star Accommodation, Very Hospitable, Beautiful Rooms, Superb Food, Charming Location, Adorable Dogs!” (Guest Comments)
A very comfortable beautifully refurbished B&B in a unique detached family home – in its own peaceful private woodland garden very close to the Gareloch – in the lovely conservation village of Rhu, by Helensburgh, West Scotland.
Rhu is just 5 minutes by car from both Helensburgh town centre and Faslane, and 15 minutes from the breathtaking Loch Lomond.
Helensburgh is a very attractive seaside town, with plenty of restaurants and shops. There are many buildings of architectural interest including Charles Rennie Macintosh’s Hill House (National Trust) and the world’s last sea going paddle steamer ‘The Waverley’ calls in twice a week during the summer.
This location makes an ideal centre for exploring West and Central Scotland. Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, The 96-mile 'walk' - the West Highland Way, Stirling, the Trossachs (‘Braveheart’ Country) and Inveraray are all within easy reach. There is also easy access to sea or loch fishing, sailing, hill walking, mountain-biking and golfing (the Loch Lomond Golf Course is just 25 minutes away).
Helensburgh has two railway stations. Central Station connects directly to Glasgow and Edinburgh every thirty minutes, while Helensburgh Upper gives access to the wonderful panoramic scenery of the West Highland Line with daily return journeys to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig, and of course the famous Glennfinnan Viaduct (Harry Potter).
The property is in an ideal location for sailing events from Rhu Marina and for functions held at the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club. Eating out is not a problem - we have two local hotels with restaurants within walking distance from us. After your meal, why not visit our very friendly and popular pub, the Rhu Inn? Live entertainment is on most weekends.
Glasgow Airport (GLA) is around 35 minutes driving time. Glasgow Prestwick is approx 1.5 hours.
Whistlers Dell B&B offers highly exclusive accommodation in a charming family home, just 5 minutes from the centre of Helensburgh and Faslane Naval Base. The house is set in its own peaceful woodland garden grounds, and is around 15 minutes’ drive from Loch Lomond.
There are two guest rooms which are ideal for couples. Both have been refurbished in 2016 to the highest standards and are tastefully decorated with Laura Ashley and Sanderson furnishings. Each of our two double rooms has a comfortable seating area, as well as a flat-screen TV and DVD player and free Wi-Fi. A selection of fine teas and ground coffee is provided, along with fresh milk, biscuits and luxury chocolates or home-made Scottish Tablet. Fluffy dressing gowns, slippers and hairdryer are also provided for the convenience of guests.
Our Lomond Guest Room has a brand new en-suite with bath and shower. The Gareloch Guest Room has its own lovely - private - bathroom facilities.
The breakfast menu includes freshly home-baked bread, freshly squeezed juice and fruit salad, as well as a cooked breakfast.
The gardens have their own stream (Whistlers Burn is an ancient smugglers’ route ...), and our two golden retrievers, Hazel and Heidi, are guaranteed to give you a warm welcome!

We are a professional couple who love living in Rhu by Helensburgh, and have done so for over 18 years.
We have two golden retrievers - Hazel and Heidi - who are part of the family!
Helensburgh is a lovely place to live in - the shops we need are all within easy reach of one another and the town centre has been beautifully paved.
There are lots of great places to eat - our favourites are
La Barca (Spanish tapas, award winner)
the Sugar Boat (just opened in 2017 - different fare, fantastic quality),
the Rosslee Hall Hotel (within easy walking distance - great quality UK food)
