Baarle-Nassau and Baarle-Hertog are unique for their ‘enclave’ history. This means that parts of the Dutch Baarle-Nassau and the Belgium Baarle-Hertog are surrounded by each other. This makes for a mixture of Belgium and The Netherlands. The border of both countries crosses the streets and even passes through houses. For that reason, Baarle-Nassau and Baarle-Hertog have always been a beloved place for tourists. Therefore, there are lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. Also, Baarle-Nassau and area have a lot of beautiful cycling and walking routes, taking you through stunning landscapes and tiny villages.
