Just 40 miles NW of Corpus Christi, this staycation is located on a working Alpaca & Sheep Ranch that overlooks quiet Lake Corpus Christi.

Watch the sun rise from the front deck, relax on back deck while watching incredible sunsets over the lake. Minimum stay is 2 nights—But we recommend you book at least 3 nights because 2 just is not long enough!

Perfect for two! This cottage comes with a Queen size bed, love seat and rocker recliner. The kitchen is plenty big enough to prepare meals. It is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, microwave, toaster, coffee maker. Make the most of your stay at the ranch by making arrangements for a tour of the farm or reserving time in the Fiber Arts Studio for your favorite crafting. You'll enjoy the experience!

If you need an additional bed, we have a rollaway twin, a twin and full air bed. Be sure you communicate your needs with the owner. Please note: this cottage has a step-in shower with molded seat and dual faucets.

The cottage is located about 1/4 mile from the nearest neighbors. The neighborhood is in a rural area, 2 miles outside of Mathis, Texas (a small South Texas town of about 5,000). The Lake is surrounded by multiple communities, of which Lake City is one.

Birders will find the property has plenty of areas to watch from. A lot of wooded areas that are kept natural for good habitat assures the best views. Fall and Spring visitors will be happy to know that the property is in the path of many migrating birds.
Inquire about parking your outboard motor boat and trailer on the property during your stay. In most cases there is room to turn around. RVs are welcome through Harvest Hosts platform.

BBQ pits and picnic tables are located outside each cottage. There is also a fire pit for our guests to use. We suggest you bring your own fire wood as it is hard for us to keep up with the demand. Caution should be used when conditions are not favorable for fires such as during drought conditions.

My husband, Mark,and I began raising alpacas for their fleece on our 5 acre tract in 2007. Since then we have acquired another 35 acres and began also raising Gulf Coast Sheep for their fleece. Our herd size ranges from 30-40 alpaca. We keep our sheep at 8-10. Our two grown kids help out with shearing and other big jobs. We are happy to share this beautiful spot with visitors to our ranch!

Guests can arrange with owners for tours, classes and other events as the season dictates. There will also be opportunities to meet with owners and other guests be the fire pit or cook outs on the patio. These are often impromptu and dependent on good weather.

Guests should be comfortable around large dogs. Our Livestock Guardian Dogs have access to the entire farm 24/7. Barking is a part of their job and this can be anytime day or night. If it becomes too much of a disturbance guests should let us know ASAP so that alternative arrangements can be implemented.
On arrival you can expect to be greeted by the Livestock Guardian Dogs. In most cases if you arrive during daylight hours you’ll find the owners out and about tending to their chores.

Pets:
Well behaved, house trained or kenneled pets are welcome. A $50 nonrefundable per pet per visit fee will be charged at check in should guest bring their pet with them if not included in the original booking request. A weight limit of no greater than 25 pounds allowed.
