Open, clean & modern garden level basement: 1 queen bedroom + office set up with queen bed. Private entry, 1 bath, 1/2 kitchenette (no stove). Walk to Brown Line, Lincoln Square, River Park. Off street free parking, backyard. Residential neighborhood.
We've set up the lower, basement level of our remodeled Chicago brick bungalow home as an ideal place for visiting family and guests. We hope you will enjoy it as much as they do!
You'll feel at home with as much space, privacy and interactions as you want. You will have the entire floor to yourselves. There's a separate entry off the driveway, which you can use for parking. In warm weather, you can enjoy our back yard and patio. With only two of us living here, there's a real sense of privacy on each level of our house.
Your inside space is at garden level, but the beautiful glass block windows provide a lot of daylight. Tall people please be aware that the ceilings are basically 7 foot, with 6 1/2 feet under soffits and doorways. We have GFA heat and central air conditioning. Our home was remodeled a few years ago: everything is clean and fresh, with comfort and relaxation in mind.
There is one separate bedroom with a firm, queen-size mattress. Another room serves as office/work space but can be converted into a second bedroom with a queen air mattress on platform frame. The living area includes: a great sleeper couch with full-size Serta mattress, a fold-out single futon, and a dinette table & chairs. The full bathroom has a tub/shower with strong pressure/hot water. It's stocked with plenty of towels; there's also a hair blower.
The area next to the laundry includes a small refrigerator, coffeemaker, toaster, microwave (no stove), and utility sink. You'll find coffee and tea, as well as some snacks. There are plates, glassware and tableware. Sorry, there is no cooking downstairs (other than the microwave), and meals are not provided by us.
Please keep in mind that this is an 'English basement'. That means it is about four feet below grade level. We have included pix of the private back entrance stairs as well as the front entrance stairs.
We take our guests' needs and reviews seriously; you may note our new HD tv as well as new carpeting for the bedroom, reading lamps for the bedroom, and dimmable lights for the living area.
Ours is a "No Pets" rental. Our dog, Violet, is a sweet tempered 35 pound puggle mix. We occasionally foster rescue dogs, which is how we got her. We prefer to exclude pets in our rental arrangements.
Cable TV, an extensive library of DVD movies, wi-fi internet, laundry, family board games are all ready for your use.

We've hosted world travelers for several years and have learned to take cues from our guests to provide hospitality and support equal to their needs.
We're both Chicago natives who enjoy city life and can share our knowledge if asked. One of us is almost always at home, and we are readily available to respond to your wants & needs via phone, text, email, or just knock on the upstairs door!
We think our space is ideal for a couple, or a small family. We will consider up to a group of five, depending on your situation. There is a$20 fee for each additional person (beyond the initial 2). No charge for 1-2 young children under the age of 6. While we think our space is good for young families, we ask that parents consider child safety issues - - please look at the open stairs in the apartment. We ask that parents of youngsters supervise them especially near the stairs.
Please be aware that our rental is not to be used as a party location or party house. We choose not to rent to people under 21 years of age.

There is no smoking in the house. We prefer to not allow pets: our dog remains upstairs with us during Airbnb rentals. We do not rent to individuals under age 21. No loud or late night partying will be tolerated. We assume our guests will comfortably use and respect our space and property.
We are Chicago natives who enjoy both our city life and travel opportunities. In Chicago we like going to theatre, museums, or watching sporting events. Anne loves tooling around on her bike, while Rob loves all things related to science fiction & space. We travel to visit family, and to experience natural and cultural attractions.
We've been Airbnb guests; now we are also hosting. When we travel, we appreciate having more than a sterile hotel room in which to stay. We like a little extra space, (and it definitely needs to be clean!), to unwind when vacationing.
It's great to experience daily life in different places and neighborhoods. We value the mutual respect, trust and connectivity inherent in Airbnb experiences.
