Arriving and getting access was very efficient and welcoming. We deliberately chose this area to experience a bit of Easy German ambience albeit nearly 20 years after the fall of the wall. We were not disappointed. The area and building is 'decorated' with graffiti art which might shock some but we found all part of the experience. The apartment was very convenient for a funky and interesting neighbourhood with lots of cafe's and bars. We walked into Berlin central every day and got taxi back. It took about half an hour and good exercise. You can walk direct or along the river and remains of the wall. The nearby wall exhibition is very informative. The apartment was absolutely fine. It's basic but very adequate, clean and quiet. The building is old and characterful in a slightly grungy but non threatening way. There is excellent wifi access. The shower takes a wee while to warm up but is then nice and hot. The central heating is very effective. There is a double bed and a sofa bed. I was travelling with my 17 year old daughter and we should have been more specific about needing bedding for the sofa bed, But we managed fine. There's a Netto across the road for very inexpensive basic provisions. The apartment isn't equipped for cooking a banquet but fine for simple meals. It needs a toaster though and I'm sure the owner would oblige. I'd definitely book again for very cheap, clean, warm, quiet accommodation in a safe and interesting area with a funky edge !
