Long term guests welcome. This room sits high atop Metropolitan Hill. Expansive view. No buildings higher, sleep with the windows uncovered if you like, wake with sunrise over the city. Experience sunrise like you were sleeping on the beach. Home roasted exotic coffee and fresh baked bread greet you in the morning. A travel adventure.

After a good nights' sleep you will wake each morning to the smell of fresh brewed coffee - roasted here by me from exotic green beans. Pair this with some fresh baked artisan bread that I bake and typically have on hand. If you love coffee and fresh home made bread, it doesn't get any better then this. If you are interested, I might give you a lesson or two on how to roast your own coffee. In addition to fresh baked bread toasted with jam additional breakfast offerings may include cereal, bagels with cream cheese, or, on occassion, a Colombian breakfast of arepa, egg, and cheese. It's delicioso and a high protein breakfast, a great way to start the day. At the end of the day I occassionally offer a fresh baked baguette with a sampling of quality cheeses.

Current coffee offerings are listed at the end of this description.

This room offers a rare and unique unobstructed view of the Boston skyline that includes privacy. All nearby buildings are below eye level from this bedroom. You can feel totally secure in leaving the window curtains open and still have all the privacy you would if they were closed. The view of Boston is wonderful. If by chance you wake in the early morning, the sunrise is also something to see and enjoy from the moment the eastern sky begins to turn red with the rising sun. In fact you will never get tired of the view out your bedroom window.

This is a charming, bright, and sunny apartment with views of the Boston skyline. Roslindale Village is a quiet section of Boston with a lively and charming village square that has many fine restaurants, coffee shops, market, specialty shops, and farmer's market on Saturdays in good weather.

This room is perfect for anyone considering a long term stay. If your needs are for housing for 1-6 months then you should consider this option. I have had many guests for just such a stay. The room is large and you have your own TV. Public transportation into and out of Boston is very convenient. It's what I use and I prefer it over driving. If your stay is for one month or more then I will arrange to meet you at the airport or train station and return you there when you depart.

This double occupancy guest room has a full size bed that will accomodate two persons. There is an extra $10 charge for the extra person. There is a living room, dining room, kitchen, back porch, front porch, and a bathroom that is shared with the host. There is a full office with a printer, scanner, Macintosh computer, PC, and Linux computers. There is free off-street parking in driveway for one car. There is unrestricted on street parking. I am close to Rt. 128 for those who would use that route to arrive by car. If you enjoy biking around a city feel free to bring bicycles as they can be stored in the basement. Though there is no laundry on the premises your laundry can be done for about $5 per load for wash, dry, and fold.

I have just recently joined the movement away from cable tv and I get 27 channels in HD through an antenna. I do have internet with Netflix streaming via a Roku box and Apple TV and these provide many alternative sources of tv entertainment. If you are spending the evening here I invite you to share a movie with me. Wifi is provided throughout the house.

If you are an early morning person and want to go to the gym to start your day you can do so as my guest. Please let me know in advance of your arrival.

Public transportation in Boston is as good as anywhere in the world. Every bus and train has a gps that lets you track it via your mobile phone or computer. There is no guesswork or wasted time in using the public transit system. You can actually see them coming on a live map on your mobile phone. If you take the same bus into Boston every morning you can have a text sent to your mobile phone 5 mintues before the bus arrives. It works very well and I have all the information you need to setup your mobile phone or computer with apps for planning and tracking public transit vehicles.

To get into Boston the bus is just a few steps from the front door and you can be in downtown Boston in 40 minutes on average, often less. I am 2 miles from the Forest Hills subway station which is a 15 minute bus ride. Four buses serve my neighborhood and they do run on schedule. My location is an excellent place from which to commute into downtown Boston, Mass General Hospital, the financial district, Back Bay (Copley Square, Prudential Center, Newbury St.), the Museuem of Fine Art, and the Longwood Medical Center.

If you are going to use public transportation I have 2 "Charlie Cards" with enough of a balance to get you through the first day or so of your visit. You can reload them at any "T" station. The Charlie Card is very convenient for bus and subway travel and is less expensive per fare than using cash or the Charlie Ticket. I do expect that you will return these cards with the same balance as when you received them. The best deal on public transportation is the one week unlimited subway/bus pass for $15. The breakeven on that is about 5 rides.

If you are arriving from outside the US and you need to purchase a sim card for you mobile phone I can arrange that. If you need electric power adapters we can get those as well.

Once you book your room I will send you links to useful local information. If you would like to discuss special transportation needs then please feel free to ask. f you are coming from outside the US and want to get a sim card for your phone I can help you with that once you arrive.

This is absolutely a comfortable, professional, and safe place for both men and women.

Coffee we're roasting for spring and summer 2017

NOTE: coffee is roasted and kept fresh. At any time there usually only two coffees available. One light roast and one dark roast. These are alternated daily and sometimes blended as the morning coffee.

Yemen Mokha Matari - Bani Matar is one of the few coffees from the growing regions surrounding the high-altitudes of Sana'a that was traditionally kept separate. It has red grape, and a winey fruit tone that is covered by dark chocolate roast tones, as well as earthy notes and tobacco.

Colombia Vereda Pedregal - The farmer groups for this coffee are organized by town in both the Huilad and Cauca department, since the zone stradles the border. This area has repeatedly produced sweet, clean coffees due to the prime coffee growing climate, altitude (between (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) meters), and careful cherry selection on the part of the farmers.

Panama Volcancito Don K - Don K is a short name for 'Don Koyner', or Senor Koyner. Senor Koyner refers to Alexander Koyner MacIntyre who emigrated from Canada to Panama in the early 1900's to purse coffee farming. Aromatically Don K reminds me of fudge brownie, buttery caramel sauce, toasted hazlenut, vanilla as well as dried ginger and cardamom and that's just the dry fragrance.

El Salvador Majahual Tablon La Montana - El Majahual is part of a larger farm that was divided some years back. Majahual averages 1500 meters although much of the farm is higher up. From the ground coffee, the fragrance has slight Brazil nut hints, with cocoa and butterscotch sweetness. While pouring the hot water caramelized sugar and chocolate tapioca scents emerge, with a more semi-sweet chocolate and almond in the break.

Java Sunda Pitaloka - This coffee is the result of a project in the oldest coffee-growing region in Java, working with the local farmers, and wet-processing the coffee in tiny batches to high standards. The Pitaloka has a sweetness we don't find in many Indonesian coffees, and yet it has clear Indonesia character too. The dry fragrance has sweet tobacco, dried cherries, cashew, molasses and chocolate cake mix. The wet aromatics are intense, with muscovado sugar, cocoa nibs, Madagascar chocolate, and some definite Indo foresty notes, which make it clear what part of the world this coffee is from.

Ethiopia Goma Duromina Cooperative - This coffee from Duromina Cooperative is part of an initiative in Ethiopia to work direct at the coop level. Duromina is a sweet, delicate and well-structured cup, totally different from the typical dry-process Jimma coffees. The fragrance from the dry grounds has stone fruit (peach, apricot) and honey. As the hot water is added, there is intensely sweet smell of apricot preserves, jammy, with floral scents as well.

You can feel free to use almost anything here. Feel free to cook in the kitchen and store food in the refrigerator. The local farmer's market runs June through November where you can buy the freshest of local produce and many other products. If you have a lot of luggage and are here long enough I can store things out of the way in the attic.

This is a shared living experience. I live and work here. I spend most of my time in my office thus it affords the guest a sense of privacy to watch TV or some other sort of entertainment. Your room will offer you a sense of privacy to be comfortable. If you are here for a longer stay we might even share takeout, dinner, or go to a movie.

Ostale napomene

If you book late on the same day as your arrival you may find that I am not available to you for a convenient arrival time. You should check that.

I am about as laid back, flexible, and accommodating as you could expect to find. Read the reviews, that's me. For the most part I have professional guests who are here for work, education, or relocation. This is a shared living experience. I work here as well as live here. It is a quiet home in a quiet neighborhood. I'm here to make your stay as pleasant as possible within the context of the "Airbnb experience".

I get up each day anytime from 6:00am on. I will get up to see to it you get on your way. I will coordinate with you so that fresh coffee is made and you are provided with fresh baked bread toasted with butter and jam. Any other breakfast items are on you. You can use the refrigerator to keep any food you may want. You can bring in most anything you want and use the kitchen and most everything else in the house.
