This delightful renovated cottage (2016) offers attractive and very comfortable accommodation. It is located is close to urban Sweden, but a world away from the stress of city living. The property is set on the village green .

A traditional wooden property it offers charming and comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people and would suit a family or a group of friends. There is also an optional extra sleeping cabin that can be rented to accommodate four additional guests.

The cottage has a well-equipped kitchen with dining area, two bedrooms, living room with direct access onto a spacious south-facing veranda with comfortable outdoor furniture and BBQ. It has all the modern amenities you would expect including a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, dishwasher and washing machine. It is available all year round; there is nothing more relaxing than watching the sparkling of an open fireplace during the cooler months.

Kolforsen, where the properties are located, is tranquil community, with only 15 permanent residents. It is a serene place with friendly neighbours and its close to nature. Kolforsen lies at the mouth of the Testeboån river where it joins Lake Fjärden. The lakeside has excellent swimming facilities as well as the all-year round hot tub & sauna. Kolforsen is surrounded by forest with excellent walking and biking trails. Our guests have access to boats, canoes and bicycles.

The nearby village, Ockelbo, prides itself on being close to nature, beautiful scenery and that Prince Daniel (married to Crown Princess Victoria) grew up here. You will find the famous "Wij Gardens" in Ockelbo with its restaurant recommended by the White Guide, an excellent ICA grocery shop, pharmacy, hairdresser, alcohol shop, cafe, swimming pool and more.

The county is great for everything you can possible think about if you think of Sweden; it has 226 lakes and 15 rivers and streams as well as UNESCO World heritage sites. Kolforsen is less than 2 hours from Stockholm Arlanda.

Apart from offering a peaceful stay in serene surroundings – there is also more adventurous all year-round activities such as husky sledge rides in wolf county, snow-mobile tours, elk safaris, canoeing trips, horse drawn carriages and sleighs, bear watching night safaris, cross-country skiing, berry and mushroom picking and much more can also be arranged. We also have good cooperation with organisers so whatever takes your fancy - we can help you organise it.

Some activities require some driving, but takes you through traditional Swedish landscape.

There are many places of interest, and the house has brochures and tips of what you can see and do in the vicinity.

As I am from Sweden and my partner is from Scotland we named our company SWESCOT and each cottage is named after a Scottish tartan.

I was born in Gävle but I left Sweden in my 20s to see the world. I returned to Sweden in 2006, after the death of my father, and settled with my Scottish partner and children in idyllic Kolforsen. I am still exploring the world, but nowadays the world come to me and our cottages. I love to help guests experience the best of Sweden!

I also love that we have a hobby farm where our philosophy is that the animals are in their natural habitat - and that you can get fresh ecological eggs in the egg-laying season. Guests are more than welcome to feed our animals.

My ultimate dream is to have a self-sufficient household for food, both meat and vegetables.

Renting out the cottages combined with running the hobby farm in this tranquil place is just perfect for me.
