Isabella is an excellent host who responded quickly to our queries both prior to and during our stay. She met us on arrival and gave a very comprehensive briefing on the house and the local area. Isabella is fluent in Italian and French, and has sufficient English to make herself understood on everyday issues. However, for her non-Italian/French speaking guests, she has ready access to translators and we had no problems communicating.
Corpo di Cava is an old town with a medieval feel to it and is tucked into the hills above Cava de Tirreni. Isabella’s accommodation is the converted attic zone of a large three-storey house which has been in her family for many generations. The ground floor section dates back to the 12th Century with the upper floors being added in the 1800s. The apartment has been modernised, and is warm and comfortable.
Isabella offers a B&B experience in the traditional sense with a light continental breakfast being provided daily. We had sole use of a large bedroom with ensuite and shared the lounge and kitchen facilities with Isabella. The large double bed with beautiful embroidered linens was extremely comfortable. The bedroom window looked out over the valley towards the Apennines and, in the distance, Salerno. The apartment was spotlessly clean on our arrival.
Isabella is a gracious and generous host who works very hard to ensure that her guests are comfortable in her accommodation. For example, she makes chocolates and treated us with some of her product – extremely delicious. Also on one evening, we shared with her a delightful pizza that she provided.
Overall, our one week’s stay in Corpo di Cava was most enjoyable and Isabella’s home provided us with a wonderful base for exploring southern Catania, the Amalfi Coast and the Vesuvius region. Thank you, Isabella for making our stay in Corpo di Cava so very special. It was an experience we shall always treasure.
