A beautiful river cottage for every season - a winter fishing paradise, fall getaway, or summer river play land.
Cottage can sleep up to four guests, or can be rented with the main house for a larger group, or family gathering (house sleeps six).
Unbelievable views from every window; even on a rainy day, you'll catch yourself frittering away the time staring up river, or at the surrounding coast range mountains. Truly heaven on earth.
Nestled in the Siuslaw National Forrest area, this little gem is exactly what you'd want in a river getaway. Beautiful views from every window, and cozy spaces.
The Siuslaw River is known for salmon, steelhead and trout fishing, but is also great for recreation. You can put a kayak in the river right in front of the Cottage, or go down the road a bit for a larger boat ramp. The Siuslaw flows out into the Pacific ocean, so the river changes to deep water, effected by the tide, a few miles downstream.
The Cottage is located 15 miles from Florence, so a day trip to the beach is quick, or spend the day exploring the surrounding mountains, streams, or hiking trails (Sweet Creek Falls is our favorite).
The Cottage can be rented on it's own, or can be booked with the main house for larger groups, or a retreat. There is plenty of parking, and the driveway can accommodate an RV or ATV trailers, if you're planning on riding the dunes.
There is truly something for everyone here - book lovers can nestle in, read and enjoy the views, fishing and hunting paradise, or a great family getaway where kids can cast a line in from the bank, splash in the water, or catch crawdads.
There are two houses on this property - the Riverview Cottage (in front, closest to the river), and the main house. Both are available to rent, so can be rented together, or individually. There is plenty of parking, and in fact, each house has a dedicated parking area. Grassy areas and riverfront is available to both houses.

Because this is a riverfront house, and we do not provide life jackets, you may want to consider bringing your own, and make sure kids are supervised while outside. The grassy area along the driveway is big enough to kick a soccer ball or run around.
The entire house is on the main floor, with just a couple of steps to the porch.
There is a private bedroom, and a sleeper in the living room, as well as a kitchen and bath. There is a small stackable washer/dryer in the Cottage.
The kitchen does not have a dishwasher or oven, but does have a small stove-top, and a microwave that is also a convection oven. The micro/convection is big enough to bake something in a square casserole dish.
Mapleton is a very small town on the Siuslaw River, nestled in between two mountains, Cell service is minimal, but there is wifi at the house, to enable wifi calling. This is an ideal spot for serious fishing, a great base for day trips to the beach (15 miles to Florence), or just a spot to have some quality family time. It's really everything you'd want in a riverfront house.
There is a DVD player and board games for evening entertainment. Otherwise, there are lots of adventures to be had within a few miles - explore the back roads through the mountains, find some hidden trails to hike, or discover streams that meander through the area.
Florence is a good sized coast town just 15 miles away with restaurants, groceries, and beach activities. Mapleton has a little store, restaurant, bar, coffee shop, and a hardware/garden store. Anything else you might need, can be found in Florence.
A little side note - the House and Cottage are both on a well and septic system. The water can smell like sulfur sometimes, which is a little weird for folks who are not used to a well - and even though it is perfectly fine to drink, we keep bottled water on hand for those who prefer it.
- Please remove shoes upon entering Cottage
- There are no fences between properties to the north, so please respect neighbors' space.
- River front is publicly accessible, but common courtesy prevails.
- Please no pets on furniture or beds, and if they get into the river, please towel them off before they come inside.
- Dogs must be leashed while outside (neighbors all have dogs and there are no fences), and please pick up and dispose of all poop appropriately.
Hostess by nature, who loves to travel and meet new people. My favorite quote is, "There are no strangers, only friends who haven't met yet."
I love to cook, entertain, drink wine, and absolutely love the art of breaking bread, and all that that entails when you invite someone to your table. I speak English and German.
