The best thing about this property is the beautiful view. You can sit on the decking outside and look out over the bay looking down towards Gavrio. It is very peaceful, with perhaps one vehicle passing the road about 300m away every 20 minutes. It was a great place to sit out, read a book, have some wine and a loaf of bread, and watch the world go by from.
The nearest shop is a 8 minute drive down the mountain, so you have to be prepared for that. Christina was very helpful and kind, she met us at Gavrio and showed us the way, plus she helped us travel back to the port after our stay - thank you! There is a car offered with each letting, or if you can't drive, you could hire a scooter in Gavrio - there is a place near where the ferry arrives. You don't need a licence to hire a scooter up to 90cc.
This would be a great property for a family, as there is one master bedroom with a double bed and one bedroom with 2 single beds for kids, or sharing adults. The interior is in a tasteful '80s decor, very calming, but with the decking outside we hardly spent any time inside, except for sleeping. This is a great holiday let, so you won't be sharing with the owner, and it is not the owner's house. It has 2 bedrooms, a shower (no bath), a kitchen (including fridge/freezer unit) and living space. There is a radio also, and a television. There is another holiday let about 20 metres away from this one, and a third holiday let about 40 metres away. The water was from tap, but there was a very pretty garden with a spring in nearby, from which you can take your water.
In terms of activities, there is a stunning, genuinely stunning beach, about 30 minutes scooter ride to the east, Vitali beach. Plus there are lots of walking trails around to enjoy. Andros is a great island for a week, there is so much to do, so much beauty to enjoy. The big question about island holidays is whether to stay in one place, or move around with many different places. I think that if you have transport, this is a good place for 5-7 nights as a base, as the whole island is in reach from here.
There is no problem with insects at night, as there was a good mosquito netting installed on the windows.
All in all it was a good 3 nights we had, it's a shame we couldn't stay longer.
