The flat was great, even better than in the pictures. It was very clean when we arrived - and it has a daily cleaning service (no hard cleaning, but enough for those that like a hotel-like cleaning service). Super close to the beach, near many bike rental stations, close to bus, walking distance to the Sugarloaf... And very safe. Great cost-benefit for the flat for New Year's Eve period!
Unfortunately, even though I loved the flat, I did not have a good experience with the host. Although some times the communication was good, she was often rude on the e-mails, sometimes contradicting previous information or info from the AirBnB listing. Also, I have two major complaints about the host.
First, after booking and payment was done, she insisted that the price was not the agreed one, and never told me where the difference came from or even what was the exact amount missing from the agreed payment. When I asked how much and why (I asked for a screenshot of the amount she received and we would compare with the agreed value) she told me she did not need to send me how much she received because I knew how much I had paid, and asked how I would pay for the difference. Since I booked and paid through AirBnB, the difference might have been due to conversion rates (since I paid in Norwegian kroner and she received in Brazilian reais). Thus, I ended up paying that difference directly to the owner of the flat when I got the keys (difference which I only had her word that that was the approximated amount missing, since I had already paid what was indicated on AirBnB, which I booked following her instructions).
Second, she guaranteed that the internet and cable TV would be working by the time we arrived (it was a condition for us booking the flat, which was communicated before booking it). When I arrived, at 8:30 in the morning on Monday, she told me to wait for the installation of internet which would be happening that day, and we (those who rented the flat!) had to wait and see that the service was done. It took one and a half days due to a problem in the old cables! So we lost almost two days of being out on the beach, since there had to be always at least one person in the apartment - and the host never, in any moment, suggested that she would look over it (since it was a service for her flat) or even apologized for it. All this was a surprise, due to the positive reviews I had found on Elisabet's profile.
In summary, the flat is great, but I would not rent from Elisabet again based on my experience.
