The corrugated cottage was built in the spring of 1940, around the beginning of the Second World War when Britain felt under imminent threat of invasion. The cottage was built for the Women's Land Army, or ‘land girls', who were young women working in local farms.

No smoking in the cottage (even pipes).

Dogs are welcome in your enclosed garden. Please do clear up after them.

The bedroom upstairs is reached by a steep staircase and very low doorway and ceiling, so is unsuitable for disabled or elderly people (but brilliant for children!).

Such a quirky place to stay in a peaceful spot but within easy striking distance of amenities and attractions. The cottage is well equipped, in vintage style, and had everything we needed for a "get away from it all" holiday. The local village (small but with pub) is just a ten minute walk and a ten minute drive takes you to Glastonbury/Street. Lots to do nearby including the pretty town at Wells (the Bishop's Palace is worth a visit), Cheddar Gorge, and Wookey Hole (great for kids - looks small but can easily spend 4 hours there - take your own food though). Michael and Mary were good hosts, readily available both before and during our stay. Highly recommended if you're after a holiday with a difference.

Staying at Corrugated Cottage is a delight. The authenticity of the details in the décor is great. Garden views are delightful. It's a really special place. Mary the host couldn't be more helpful.

Staying in the Corrugated Cottage is like going in a time capsule!! We loved all the old artifacts and vintage trinkets, books, toys, utensils, furniture and Nic- knacks which filled every nook and cranny!! The place was very homely and the beds were very comfortable and by the time we came to leave we felt we we leaving an old friend !! The enclosed garden was great for our dog billy and we loved meeting the owners dog too!! The surrounding area is very beautiful and we had great pub meals out- a short drive and then walked up to the village pub (the greyhound) for a drink too!! We relaxed in the garden late into the evening and it was very tranquil!! Definately recommend to those who like a quirky getaway!!

This cottage is a wonderful place to step back in time. It is truly just like being in the 1940s. We were made very welcome and felt very comfortable. I highly recommend staying at the corrugated cottage if you want to get away from it all. Plenty to see and do. One of my most favourite places I've stayed!

A most memorable trip . Not enough hours in the day to digest all the fascinating memorabilia. A cuppa in the Anderson Shelter is something none of us will forget Mary and Michael were perfect hosts, great communication and spent time explaining the history of the cottage. A must to stay in and a weekend none of us will forget - thankyou !

I am a sculptor and conservator and have preserved and renovated our houses in Bellac, France and in Somerset, England.
I am interested in quirkiness too, which is reflected in some aspects of the houses.
We enjoy travelling, and sometimes bring our adult children along as they like being paid for.
