Riverfront Log Cabin was really lovely, very secluded and beautiful surroundings. The cabin itself was very clean, had a fabulous deck that wraps around, a gate on the deck (great to keep our dogs from running off) and a very sweet porch swing. It was fairly cold when we were there so we didn’t use the grill or go in the water much, but being next to the river run was stunning. Only a few steps from the cabin are gorgeous rock formations, small sections of “rapids” and swelling pools. Our dogs just loved running around in the water and we enjoyed climbing around on the rocks and hiking around. The cabin is well insulated, warm and quiet at night, there are other homes somewhat in sight, but it’s mostly very private. We would recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get there, we rolled the dice and came in our 2-wheel drive truck and even though there was no snow or rain, it struggled on the sometimes very steep gravel road you will take to get there. But it’s worth it, hiking the gravel road down to the various river access points is very pleasant. The closest town is North Wilkesboro and there are actually a few really good restaurants there, the Blue Ridge Highway is about 20 minutes drive way, but we preferred to spend most of our time in the cabin relaxing, reading and watching movies! It’s a little out of the way but if your goal is peace and quiet, this is a great choice.
