Parking is a challenge. We are happy to provide a spot in our driveway in our very safe neighborhood, which is located one minute walk from the fairgrounds.
My passion for international travel, living, and working began during a study abroad (SA) experience in London during the summer of 1988. Thereafter, my friend, another woman student in the SA program, and I travelled throughout Europe and took a most phenomenal journey from Athens to Cairo. It changed my life.
I returned to North Africa during the 1993-94 academic year when I was granted a Fulbright Research Scholar award to Tunisia to conduct my Ph.D. dissertation field research on women's professional advancement in the Arabic Islamic world. After I obtained my Ph.D. in international media and cultural studies, I moved to London for my first professorial appointment at the American international university in London.
While living and working in London for eight years I rented a room in my Kensington Olympia, London W14 flat to students and, after returning to the US, kept my flat and rented it to young professionals and graduate students from the US, UK, China, Russia, and New Zealand.
In our US college town, my spouse, Professor Scott Martin, and I have provided homes for students, faculty, and community members from the US, Russia, Romania, Lithuania, and Spain. We specialize in consulting and assisting professionals and university graduate students with the logistical and, sometimes, cultural and emotional challenges, discoveries, and joys of national and international relocation.
Our four children (two of whom were born Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London -- where the Royal Babies are born!) and we have travelled extensively and, thus, have been really happy to have discovered Airbnb in its earliest days and delighted to be a part of this community since!
