My wife and reserved a five-night stay at Lee's studio apartment, but only stayed for one.
Our first night was comfortable, with the apartment just as expected. We were really surprised by the location. We don't know DC very well, so wasn't sure what to expect, but it offers easy access to all the touristy things. What's more, it's a cool neighborhood and we loved being able to walk to the super vibrant U Street, which boasts great bars/nightlife and the best Ethiopian food.
Unfortunately, when we returned for our second night, the apartment was filled with noxious epoxy fumes that immediately made us lightheaded and nauseous. Apparently, without Lee's knowledge, the owner upstairs refinished a bathtub. The place was uninhabitable. It was a bad situation, but Lee made it better. He was immediately responsive, coming over and trying to air out the place. When it wasn't aired out enough to meet our comfort levels, Lee offered to refund the rest of our stay, which he promptly did so we could find a hotel.
I happily give Lee and his apartment 5 stars. Sure, it was a bad situation, but Lee went above and beyond to try and remedy it. And when he couldn't, he still acted in my wife and I's best interest. I'm not sure most hosts would've been so accommodating, and we appreciated it. You can stay knowing that if the unforeseen disaster arrives, Lee will help find a satisfying solution. That's an awesome host.
