My lovely 1840s cottage is just 7 minutes’ walk from the nearest train station, with direct links to Edinburgh, Dundee, Leuchars (for St Andrews) Perth, & Aberdeen among others. Edinburgh is about one hour by car, or 45 minutes by train. St Andrews is 40 minutes by car, 45 minutes by train and bus, or 1hr 10 mins by bus only.
In Markinch, once the ancient capital of Fife, you will find yourself in a village conservation area. My cottage comes complete with log-burning stoves in the kitchen and living room, and you will also have full access to the kitchen, TV, Wifi &, washing machine. Plenty free on-street parking.
For some truly lovely Scottish scenes, I’m a kipper’s throw from the beautiful East Neuk fishing villages (30 minutes drive / on the bus route). Make a day of it by visiting the world-famous St Andrews (the home of golf, but don’t worry; there’s a golf course just a 10 minute walk from the cottage!) I’m also just 10 minutes' drive from the unique village of Falkland which was used as a location for the Outlander series. Falkland Palace was the 14th Century hunting palace of our Scottish Kings and Queens. Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned for many years in a castle on nearby Loch Leven... what a fantastic visit!
There is a lovely park nearby, famous for its rhododendron collection, and there are other pleasant signposted walks in the area.
I look forward to welcoming you to my lovely home in central Fife.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare meals. It's a shared bathroom / shower-room.

I am quite informal with guests, so am likely to join you at breakfast.
I will be there to welcome you, but you will get a key so you can come & go as you wish.
Note that although there is free parking on the road, there is normally no parking on the driveway, except by prior arrangement. I need the parking space to charge my electric car, but I can charge elsewhere if required because of mobility needs.
Definitely no smoking indoors. Apart from that, I'm fairly relaxed. Any questions, please call me.
I love having friends coming to stay, and always like to take them around the area. I'm very interested in local history. I love my house, and have put a lot of work into getting it as comfortable as possible!
