This beautiful 1928 building was The Hideout for Bonnie and Clyde during their 13 days in Joplin, Missouri. They were accompanied by Buck Barrow (Clydes brother), wife, Blanche and a friend, W. D. On April 13, 1933 there was shootout killing 2 local law enforcement officers. In the items left behind was a roll of film which proved to be the 1st images law enforcement had of them. Blanches jewelry, as well as the original door removed after the shootout, are located in our local museum.
This five room apartment is located upstairs. The Barrow gang chose this location due to the 360 degree views from here, making the apartment bright and airy. You can watch the original movie "Bonnie & Clyde" in the living room where some of the events took place. Or, read Blanche Barrows book, MY LIFE WITH BONNIE AND CLYDE written from Blanches diaries. There is an entire chapter written about the events that took place during their 13 day stay in this apartment.
This is a historic location. Please be respectful of the building and it's contents.

I am a life long resident of the area and was always fascinated by this property. In October 2016, my husband Stan and I were lucky enough to purchase it. We are thrilled to own a little piece of history and look forward to sharing it with the Airbnb community.
Stan and I live 10 miles south of Joplin with our dogs Dolly and Lilly.
