Amazing getaway house in front of Lago de Amatitlán. This is an amazing property for group retreats. It has enough rooms and beds for 8 people, and all you need to have fun. Common areas, hot tub, outside dining, right in front of the lake, rowing available...
Located conveniently close enough to Guatemala City (40min drive), but still outside. Near malls, restaurants, Amatitlans Soccer Team Stadium, parks, a bike path, and challenging rock climbing walls. It is also a good base if you plan to hike the Pacaya Volcano, very close by.
The house used to belong to Guatemalan artist and writer. Her books and paints are still on the shelves and walls. Lake Amatitlán was the place where "la crema y la nata" of Guatemalan society hanged out during the weekends. It was a place full of charm, beauty, and high society’s non-sense. A weekend at the lake was a display of luxury. People showed around their sailboats and wood motorboats.
Many things have changed, but a lot still remains. The lake water pollution made a lot of people leave. But you can still see sailboats, the rowing crew, and people skiing and wakeboarding. It’s not that uncommon to see a helicopter land on someone’s front yard.
There is a pool available for kids, it just needs to be arranged. No extra cost if you rent one week.
