Come explore everything Western NC has to offer, from your private mountain escape, secluded, yet less than a mile down to the Smoky Mountain Expwy with easy access to Asheville (35 minutes), Blue Ride Pkwy (5 minutes), Maggie Valley (20 minutes, 35 minutes to ski lifts), Cherokee (40 minutes), Nantahala (45 minutes), and the best fly fishing holes / tubing / kayaking runs (3 to 45 minutes). That's not to mention the state parks, national parks, lakes, hiking trails and waterfalls.
The road up to the mountain perch is steep but paved, plowed in the winter. So 4 wheel drive is not necessary, but you can hike right out the back door if you like.
Enjoy the entire place from the remote mountain perch. Relax in the hot-tub, slow cook on the grill, enjoy the outdoor fire pit, or the remote control gas fireplace indoors. The home is equipped with 3 flat screen TVs, WiFi (satellite slow), an office. The kitchen is fully stocked a coffee maker (Keurig), blender, pots, pans, cooking tools, cutlery, china, glasses, mugs, and basic cooking aids (spices, vinegar, oil).
We provide our guests with information on the area attractions and hiking maps and they are welcome to use inflatable river tubes and kayaks at no additional charge. We can also recommend local fishing guides and restaurants.

Directions: The address provided by Airbnb is inaccurate because the official address doesn't show up on GPS.
Instead, put 33 Forest Valley Rd, Sylva, NC into your GPS. This will get you to the first home in the Parkway Forest Community off US 64/74 about halfway between the towns of Sylva and Waynesville. Continue up the paved road 0.5 miles and Eagles Nest cabin will be on your left.
The homes aren't that close together and you should recognize it from the pictures, but if you get to the last house on the paved road, you have gone too far. Eagles Nest is the 2nd house from the top in the community.
- Please park in the driveway.
I am a professor at the University of Georgia, and I usually travel with my wife Jenna and children (Hannah 3 and Daniel 5). We are addicted to the experiences that you can only get through travel with people you care about. We have found that staying in local homes through Airbnb has enriched our experiences, and are proud to now offer our mountain home to guests, whether they seek to explore or relax.
