WHISPERING WINDS is my own little paradise, with a few too many projects, that I am sharing with YOU! :-D This 3 acre hobby farm is located in safe, quiet “Hometown Minnesota”, Spring Valley, within 25 miles of Rochester, Austin and Lanesboro. It is a retreat-like property, landscaped in an organic, Permaculture design with edible and medicinal perennial flowers, is surrounded on 3 sides by trees, bordered by an extended season stocked trout stream (Rainbow, Browns, and Brook Trout), and is adjacent to the park with a bike/walking trail. Well mannered pets ($5 per day pet fee, no pit bulls or crosses please, my insurance doesn't cover them) and children welcome, infants are people too, please include them as children or pay the extra guest fee when you arrive.

Great COVID-19 getaway! PLEASE do NOT come if you are showing any symptoms as I am in the risk category. This is NOT a campground!!! You have lots of space. Privacy, safety, quiet are what we offer.

This Serene, Peaceful Retreat from the world has a restorative quality that is almost magical. Relax by the fire, stroll through the woods on the nature trail beside the creek, contemplate life in the woods, watch the fireflies bring the stars to earth or entrance yourself in the brilliance of the galaxy above. Woods Edge Camp is my personal healing retreat from the world. It is where I go to renew my soul and seek peace. It is quiet, serene, I wake up to deer grazing in the woods, listen to the owls at night, watch the wild turkeys scratch in the leaf litter of the woods, sit down by the creek and feel the energy of the earth flow through me. It is my sanctuary to help bring myself a sense of harmony with my Maker. If you are a Thoreau fan, Woods Edge Camp is almost Walden.

Woods Edge Camp @Whispering Winds features a dry (no water) tiny house! Heat! Air conditioning! Mini fridge! Microwave! Coffee pot! Toaster! TV! Camping made EASY! Full size bed downstairs and a queen mattress upstairs, but I think the upstairs is only suitable for children/grandchildren - 2 adults and 2 children max. Bring your sleeping bags, paper plates, utensils, food and beverages and enjoy!

Well mannered dogs are welcome! $5 per dog per day fee payable in cash when you arrive. Camp is lightly fenced for dogs who want to stay with their human companions as is the dog park. Please use the large chain link kennel with dog house if you leave or your dog may leave you - your pet fees at work. Please clean up after your dog - no poo left behind. Do not lock your dog in the tiny house to shred my mattress and curtains. Or keep your dog on a leash or chain in my flower beds. :-(

Larger party? The Garden Cottage across the dog park sleeps up to 5 adults. Camp can accommodate up to 5 tents and I do have places you can tent camp. But I need to individually approve family/group units and they need to pay individually for their unit to be held accountable for their behavior. NOTE: I have hosted numerous family/friend gatherings over the years and allowed tent camping at Camp. But the larger gatherings are hard to manage and individuals have not necessarily been respectful of my home, pets and property. I think this is where I may be having problems as communication seems poor and you may not know your cousin or friend is a kleptomaniac. So, I have a 4 person limit on Camp now, to go with the beds. Contact me if you would like a larger number of people and we can work something out. :-)

The farmette features Permaculture gardens, communal campfire ring by the creek, nature trail, children's play areas, a stocked trout stream, and a friendly, laid back, country atmosphere. Woods Edge Camp is in back of the horse pasture, just steps from a stocked trout stream and feels like you are in the woods.

Relax and enjoy or use camp as a jumping off point to outdoor adventures in Bluff Country! Scenic drives, paved bike trails, parks, hiking, fishing, and small town festivals all await you. Great local restaurants, wood fired pizza, or gourmet dining and wines are within 4 miles of Whispering Winds.
Ideal for hunters/fishermen/bikers or an affordable family camping get away. Camp kitchen has quartz counter tops for ease of cleaning fish or butchering deer. :-D

I may or may not have locally accessed campfire wood available here for just $6 per large bundle or $10 for two large bundles. You may NOT bring wood across county lines in Minnesota!

I hear the word "magical" all the time from guests who really "get" this place. My favorite review: "What a magical first camping experience for our 3-year old! She saw fireflies for the first time and giggled at the meandering chickens following her around. We enjoyed dinner while watching the horses in the adjacent pasture, as white doves flew overhead. She got to roast marshmallows over our private, quiet campfire and swing on the bench swing with Mommy at night and snuggle with Daddy in the morning. She made us lots of pretend dinners in the little playhouse, played in the fossil sandbox, climbed the "fort" (little tree platform) and learned to slide down the rope firefighter-style (with assistance!), swung on the three different swings (including a tire swing), lounged in the hammock both alone and with us, and led us through the "secret passage" behind our campsite, laughing at the "Santa tree" and "pirate tree" (her interpretations). She adorably got her first taste of independence on our last day after learning the path from our car to our campsite, telling (asking) me, "Mommy, I'm going to go to the campsite, I'm going to go to the campsite," expecting to be told to wait for a grown up, and then being so proud and happy when I said okay. She got to feed the chickens, horses, pony, and donkey (? not sure, I'm a city slicker, ha!). Beverly kindly offered to wait for her to feed the koi on our last morning. The campsite was sooooo easy with the tent option. The option to shower in the house was luxurious. My husband got dinner going the first night on the fantastic kitchen setup as quickly as we would have at home. The other listing for the upstairs room means Grandma and Grandpa can join us when we camp next time. Beverly was warm, enthusiastic, kind, and welcoming. She has everything covered, and then some. We packed lightly for a camping trip, and then only used about half of what we brought. We were already looking at dates for our return as we were driving home! "

This is "Leave No Trace" camping including your waste! No cleaning fee IF you leave the place as you found it! $30 cleaning fee IF we have to pick up your garbage and/or cigarette butts, or haul up your biological waste to the house!!!
With Covid-19 we are limiting access to the house but have an open air bath house with various solar show/bathing options including a clawfoot bathtub! This too is a "Leave No Trace" bathroom! FLUSHING toilet in the outhouse over the septic! Minnesota freezes. No hoses until May and no hoses when the freeze moves in in the fall.

I love camping but hate the work of it all. It used to be fully stocked with everything you could want for camping plus outdoor games. Sadly, things started disappearing and getting wrecked, so I have removed nearly everything that people are inclined to abuse or take. FYI 2021 I plan on having a "chuckwagon" that people can access for a fee. I will also be raising my prices to make up for the abuses and requiring a deposit as even the garbage can in the tiny house and curtain tiebacks were stolen. For my returning guests, 2020 and year prior, who have taken the time to write a good review, I will be giving a discount to keep the rates close to where they are now.

Whispering Winds offers guests several unique experiences:
The Garden Cottage
Fantasy Fotos - dress up as a Viking warrior or Valkyrie, kids and adults love this!
Fossil Hunting - I do hunts and sell maps to hunt fossils older than the dinosaurs!
"Unicorn Encounters" & "My Little Pony" decorating!
If you are wanting to experience something memorable, whether it be hunting for fossils older than the dinosaurs, cosplay, or unicorn encounters, please let me know when you book for prices and availability.

If you are an experienced camper you will find this style of camping to be delightfully easy! I am implementing some Covid-19 mitigations and social distancing at the farm - just a heads up as things change so do circumstances. :-)

All sites are 20% off weekly and 40% off monthly. We are also a Five Star Wwoofing farm.

DISCLAIMER: Condition of property is subject to storms and flooding and my many projects. Pictures may not depict exact growth or bloom of plants. Animals may vary from those in pictures. :-D
Apparently I have to tell you that we have 4 seasons in Minnesota, perennial flowers do not bloom all at once - mine peak in July and August - , bushes and trees grow, we experience storms and creeks do flood, road construction happens, and as is typical of any small farm I have projects always in the works so things may be messy and being dragged from here to there - right now I am working on a new play area, Cinderella Carriage, and Rabbit Village. I am constantly upgrading, just like stores do, so some photos may be out of date. And yes animals get sick and die and are eaten by predators. Rum was 24 when he died. My beloved cat, Paris, passed this year at 19. My mare is 20 and I've had her all her life. My donkey, Coco, I adopted when he was 8 months old and he is 32 this year. Tinkerbell, the mini, blind in one eye, patient enough to be a "unicorn", is 17. Oh, and since this was written in 2020, every year after means they are 1 more year older. And most of my chickens have been eaten by a fox this year. Last year it was flooding, this year we are in drought conditions. I am now working on a rabbit village and going to put my chickens in there where the fox can't get them. Oh, and plants, flowers and animals may trigger allergic reactions in those susceptible to them. And we have insects here too... And hey people, DO NOT GO IN THE PASTURE WITHOUT SUPERVISION. And when I give ONE person permission to do something that does NOT mean that everyone in your group can do it! Example - Do NOT use the lawn tractor unless I have expressly given YOU permission to use it. Just because another guest is using it does not mean it is for guest use. You don't even know if that is a guest or a friend of mine. If a gate is closed, close it when you go through it - basic farm rule. Don't feed the horses from your hands, they have large teeth and may accidentally bite you. Oh, I am science based and believe the world is round and not flat, I don't need to hear your conspiracy theories and Donald Trump is not the Savior. I'm a Democrat and an old woman and I will speak my mind. :-D

Dostupno gostima
You have access to the whole of Whispering Winds Beautiful, Serene 3 Acre Hobby Farm, including the dog park and children's play areas. NOTE house is off limits during statewide social distancing and you are expected to respect that here. PLUS the common area of the house which features high speed WIFI, 60" Smart TV for rainy nights, and potable water in the kitchen. Working on an outdoor solar shower and bath available to guests. Want a hot shower in the shared guest bath at the house? Only $5 for a hot shower. Do NOT go in the pasture around the animals without permission!

Woods Edge Camp is my private base camp which means that everything you need to camp is here! All you need to bring is yourself, your personal items and your food or go out to eat. Camp operates on the basic camping tenant of "what you pack in you pack out". It has an outhouse "Lugga Loo" which means you also pack out your waste to the garbage can by the house where I will deal with it. Sawdust is provided to keep it clean and odorless. Bag it like doggie do. :-) OR use the outhouse that is over the septic tank and you have nothing to do with your waste. Don't want to heat water and do dishes? Pack in some paper plates, bowls, plastic flatware and lots of heavy duty tinfoil to line pots, pans and the grill - toss in the garbage for simple clean up! NO CLEANING FEE if you just bring up your garbage and the Lugga Loo garbage bag liner! IF YOU DON'T THERE WILL BE A $30 FEE!!! Wagon provided for easy transport to and from parking by the house. I often have the garden tractor and wagon around for transport also.
This is the hospitality business and if I have done a good job of welcoming you, done extras like let you do chores or brought out the pony for unicorn pics, etc. TIPPING is always appropriate! The money goes to help feed and take of the animals. :-D

Spring Valley, Minnesota, Sjedinjene Američke Države

Spring Valley is a very quiet, friendly, SAFE, Minnesota small town. It is centrally located between Rochester, Austin and Bluff Country's premiere tourist town of Lanesboro. It is also very close to Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park and Lake Louise State Park. Great hunting, fishing, fossil hunting, bicycling, motorcycling, snowmobiling, hiking, horseback riding and more! An outdoor paradise!
This is a Private Camp, NOT a campground. It is totally PRIVATE. No dealing with other people, their taste in music, loud parties, family squabbles or something that belongs to you walking off. It is a private retreat for just you and your family and friends. :-)

Hi, my name is Beverly. I am the steward of this farmette for this moment in time; it is my home. Whispering Winds is the name I gave the healing energy that flows through this land like magic. I love it here! And am grateful to share it with others who understand home, sharing, and a reverence for nature. Looking forward to meeting you! :-D AIRBNB is FUN! I LOVE meeting new people and many of my guests are like friends I haven't met yet! With Covid-19 I am doing social distancing and implementing various mitigation factors, so please be patient and kind during this stressful time. :-) I've been actively involved in the tourism industry in Bluff Country, so ask me questions! Fossil hunting is a passion of mine! We have fossils older than the dinosaurs here from when Minnesota was on the equator and under a shallow sea that may even have been red in color. I host the site: Bluff Country Fossils with a fossil adventure blog! LOL :-) I work with Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center giving fossil adventure tours in the summer that start out of my fossil gardens. I have spent the last 40 years "homesteading" aka sustainable living with lots of knowledge to share in that area. Ask me how I bought barren land, built my own home, and paid for my original homestead in just 4.5 years as a divorced mother of two! We support sustainable living by being a WWOOFUSA host farm. I hope you love animals because I have lots of pets ranging from cats and dogs to a horse and a donkey! I am an avid promoter of the Adopt-A-Horse-Or-Burro program and have an adopted "wild" burro here at Whispering Winds. FYI given the current divisive tone in the country today, please note that I am a Democrat and believe that all people are equal and deserve respect. I will not bring up politics, but if you choose to make your opinions apparent, as an old woman, I will also not hesitate to give you my opinion. :-) My home runs on the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Home remedies are fun and often work! I seem to be collecting these and love learning new ones and sharing what I know. I have a cure for rosacea, how to keep wood ticks from embedding, and even how to never get another hangover! Being an Airbnb host has been a wonderful experience and lots of fun as it brings the world to me! I always look forward to meeting and making new friends!
