Beautifully restored country home, with 2 ponds on 10 acres awaits you and your friends and family for a country getaway or a relaxing business trip. The home is well appointed with many amenities you'd expect from a hotel. Only about 10 minutes north of historic downtown Frederick, 30 minutes from Gettysburg PA, and about 1 hr from Washington DC and Baltimore, right off Rt 15.
This is a fully restored farmhouse. It was called "The Home Farm" in the oldest papers I was able to find. Apparently "Home Farm" was typically the name of the largest of several farmhouses in the huge tracts of land of old. Like most farmhouses, it has been added on to over the years. The oldest part of the house (a 'two over two,' two rooms over two rooms) is some 200 years old. No, it is not log--the thick walls are 'wattle and daub.' Search it out and you will find this is basically a tudor house, with thick beams and mud for insulation under the newer plaster and drywall. My friend who knows old houses tells me it was probably English, and likely built around the same time as the old Maryland red bank barn that you will first notice as you approach the house (made with cedar logs brought down from the nearby Catoctin Mountains, and put together timber framed, of course, pegged and notched). There are two fireplaces in this the oldest part of the house, the larger stone one was the cooking fireplace. They both now have working gas fireplaces. I have loved living in this house for the past 26 years, and this house has loved me back. Taysie

Paul, the property caretaker, lives a few houses away and is an avid outdoorsman and will be glad to tell you where to find great outdoor activities nearby.
Equipped with a Keurig coffeemaker, cooking utensils, spices, plates and utensils. Fishing in the ponds (bass, sunnies, catfish--catch and release), commercial gas stove. There is a gas grill and a firepit near the pond. Geese are around spring and early summer. Deer abound, and you might catch a glimpse of a fox. Or a bear. (Don't leave food outside).
